  1. His actions are a sign of a dangerous dog and you’re right, you brought him up. He deserves to be rehabilitated with another experienced owner. Giving him back to her and the dangerous and unpredictable behaviour will continue.

  2. Poor dog just had a garbage owner. If it’s biting or even a bit aggressive, off leash parks are the last place you should be taking it, without some proper training. Some dogs can be amazing alone but in a pack setting with strangers running around…..

  3. Demonstrated aggressive behaviour should not be allowed to continue, there are options besides putting it down but 3 attacks is just a little bit too much. I wouldn’t want to be at a dog park with this dog off leash, public safety first.

    1. But there is no need to kill the animal. It’s obvious there is something wrong with the owner’s handling of the dog. The owner either needs lessons in dog training/care or the dog needs a new owner.
I think restricting the dog from off leash parks and/or a muzzle is more than enough to keep the public safe. The dog isn’t rabid.

  4. Lets get the facts straight.

This dog has attacked 3 times in total.

The Owner is completely irresponsible, and didn’t take corrective action after the first two attacks, and even through all this she still wants to bring it back to the park…

My heart goes out to the dog but that dog is a danger to the public.

    1. This is a property issue. The SCC considers property rights important when provincial and local governments legislate to override property rights.

  5. Too many times have dogs been put down for being “dangerous” because they bit someone, when it was the persons fault to start with. Animals can be taught, they learn, and even at the point where some of those animals may have issues learning, there is a simple solution. The 3 attacks were when the dog was off the leash, so, keeping it on a leash at all times outside and seeking professional training would be the best solution to this issue. Sorry, but after working many years at an animal shelter I know how some dogs can react to strangers being around them, and the strangers who just reach out to the dogs without a care in the world. You reach for a dog when it isn’t comfortable being around you, chances are you will get bitten, and unless the dog is absolutely being aggressive just because, which I highly doubt this one is, then the talk of putting it down should be an option, but just deciding the dog has to die because no one is training it better, and also the lack of learning from the first time, is not the dogs fault. It is literally no different then someone punching you in the face and walking away. at best they get assault charges and pay a fine, not sent to death. if anything the owner needs to step up and take responsibility and be ordered to train the dog better, either herself, or professionally, or be told to keep the dog away from public places or be always on a short leash. it is just unfair to these dogs to be slaughtered when there are so may solutions to solve the problem. Animal rights are finally getting better, but at such a slow and painful rate…

  6. Pets are entirely the responsibility of their owner and their behaviours are a direct result of their handling. Therefore a pet should never suffer or be killed because of poor handling. It is the owner’s duty to bear the consequences of their pet’s behaviour.

I hope they win their case.

  7. Please explain the circumstances. Was the dog being taunted ?
Doesn’t really seem like SCOC case material tho.

  8. USA and Canada have these problems. Many countries would not tolerate unleashed dogs anywhere. And spending millions to take care of unwanted animals, all the while being totally addicted to eating murdered animals. Not much longer. Pets without caring owners are not happy. Just being warehoused on the off chance that they will find a home is wrong, also.
