To Logan McLean- The money, which I think you are writing about, was owed to Iran by the U. S. because Iran sued the U.S. and won in court. The U.S. was paying interest on the money we owed them, and digging ourselves into deep debt. The Obama administration negotiated a deal with Iran to give them their money in one lump sum, so the U. S. would not have to keep on paying Iran plus interest. The administration actually lowered the cost, considerably, that the U.S. owed Iran by paying it in a lump sum.
