Seriously, its way too early in the planning of the next “tragically weird” American Presidential election to know exactly what will happen. Good lord, we’re talking about a POTUS with an “I like him-he likes me” approach to foreign policy … I can think of only one brutal reality in the next election: Never underestimate the power of stupid in America !!!

Josh350 New York and California does not have 50% the population, not even 20%.
If it only was two states picking the president I think that would still be a smaller problem than less than 25% of the population picking the president, which is mathematically possible under the electoral college. Most people who support the electoral college avoid saying they would be ok with a president 75% of the population does not want at all.
