@Kristin Gallo So to be clear your point in drawing attention to “underlying” conditions is what? First of all there are so many things wrong with the science of your statement. But ignoring the fact that this man was very healthy and probably did more physically taxing things well than the average person. What’s your point? Most Americans are not the picture of health… which says a lot about our healthcare system. That aside we have a pandemic that we have to get under control. Period. This disease didn’t come from a wet market in Wuhan where someone ate something bad… this probably came from a lab and got out of control.
One size doesn’t fit all. We can’t compare our country to China and South Korea. We could never implement the strict measures they did our government doesn’t work with that way. However we need to look at the science they used and make it work for us.

As an RN I am enraged by some of the disrespect shown here in the comments. Listen to science and stop blaming healthcare workers for your ignorance and intolerance. This woman almost sacrificed her life working in an important field and exposed to a deadly virus. The gangrene in her fingers will probably result in amputation. Just getting off a ventilator is a huge deal. It’s a long road ahead for her. Not one word from haters and deniers! She is a shining light among so many in healthcare putting their lives on the line for so many stupid people out there. Not one word!
