concerned citizen: Good idea. Also, in California we have had a lot of prisoners who have been trained and out on the lines. When these trained firefighters have served their sentences, they are released. BUT, they are unable to apply for regular jobs as firefighters where they can earn a livable wage. The incarcerated firefighters are only paid $1-$3/day. This is ridiculous.

Scary. Because one of the least-remarked features of the barely growing economy is that it is occurring in an environment of basically zero interest rates. Investors have nearly free money, and Obama still can’t make the economy work. The Fed is being as stimulative as it can without actually paying people to take money. And if the ISIS terrorists Obama has permitted to spawn inflict an economically disastrous strike or something else spurs an economic meltdown, there are very few tools left to deal with it.

Maybe we should unban it…
People used this argument in Australia. Controlled burning was restricted due to the prolonged drought which made everything dry as tinder and made any burning unsafe. Also, you need to burn about 1/5th of the forests every year to limit mass fires such as these.
