Griddy is saying that the market price of energy didn’t go up that much, rather that the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) acting under the authority of the governor, cited its “complete authority over ERCOT” to direct that ERCOT set pricing at $9/kWh, when the wholesale market price had only risen to $0.03/kWh, making it a 300x markup of a markup by PUCT, and Griddy would have been charging $0.30 a 10x markup(so still greedy griddy griddy).
PUCT’s 3 commissioners are Arthur C. D’Andrea, DeAnn T. Walker, and Shelly Botkin, and were appointed by governor Gregory Wayne Abbott. So ask the governor why he was bleeding Texans dry, was keeping them in the dark, busting their pipes, and killing the kids and elderly.

Everybody stayed without power because most were on fixed rates and these energy retailers weren’t willing to pay $9/kWh and sell it for pennies. Those with variable rates stayed on but are getting bills as high as $17,000. That is why there were no rolling blackouts, people died and their pipes froze. So the governor willfully created the crisis and is directly responsible for $50 billions in damages and over 60 deaths. The governor intended survival of the fittest; Hunger Games while robbing people blind? Yet at the same time he was blaming green energy for what he had ordered.

What is lost on many is that the *Fox Team* and Abbott were spreading their disinformation _while_ the blackouts were happening and definitely before the facts were known. A coordinated disinformation campaign?

The federal government must provide humanitarian assistance only until Texas agrees to join the national energy grid and commit to all applicable federal energy regulations before they receive any recovery money.

Have you ever noticed that law enforcement, military, and GOP all tend to sport followers with large heads and no neck? When you see someone who has that large block head and square shoulders and no neck they are almost always cops, GOP, and military. I noticed this strongly and can assume political affiliation and mindset when I see a person like this. What do I expect? These types of people often think and act the same way. They’re predictable. Hard headed, egotistical, not kind, and not reasonable. They always want to win and be in charge of something because that is their human disposition and their nature. Bingo. The Texas’ problem became a national problem when they asked for federal assistance. That assistance should be humanitarian assistance only until Texas agrees to join the national energy grid and commits to following every energy grid regulation.
AND they agree to repay the Fed for all monies they are given to get through this.
Otherwise they can pull themselves up by those bootstraps they are so quick to tell everyone else about.

You are really missing the point! This is all ERCOT’s fault! ERCOT was created by Texas in the early ’80s to protect the Governor and the Legislature from just this sort of unfair, politicized attack. ERCOT is the designated fall guy, with no power to require, to fine or even sue a recalcitrant privately owned and correct campaign donating utility company. So designated and so they are at fault, even though some uncharitable souls might insist they have no personnel or equipment to do any of the billions of dollars in repair and expansion work Texas grid is behind. Purely politically motivated unfairness- you should be ashamed! If those silly windmill thingamabobs needed some kind of stupid weatherproofing, then why didn’t GE tell us so, when they were put in the Texas Panhandle, where freezing weather and snow happens every year- it’s GE’s fault, that’s what! Then there was poor ole T.Boon Pickens, merely a multi billionaire, trying to make a little pocket change while he helped Texas get into the renewables game- and Pickens had spent plenty of donation money to get them to see it his way- it couldn’t have been any of his fault, him being just a poor, big bucks, mega capitalist and all. Rep. Khanna, those Texas pols you are scaring so badly with your investigation would want you to remember they wanted to sell you, at wholesale prices I’m told, all the rakes you would have needed to save your forests from fires and to educate Californians on deregulation and how much benefit there was to it. That is really, totally unfair of you and those folks in Cali.

@Fiona Anderson It was fun too! All but the part about freezing my gazootski off Sunday and Monday! I had just moved back to Texas when the Glen Rose Nuclear Power Plant scam was beginning. NO history for me, here- I was front row center watching through the Dallas Morning News and Houston Chronicle day by day as those chizling dogs in Austin earned their keep for all the money utilities like TXU had pumped into them. But it was fun, huh? I’m thinking the three transformers that were installed on my apartment complex in 1995 and never maintained blowing up sort of tipped me off that it wasn’t too little power coming into the grid but a weak grid not nearly able to handle the demand.
This’s a good example of Unregulated Capitalism failures. Good for the greedy companies. Bad for the american people. Vote blue next time.
No, this was just an isolated incident that reveals some systematic flaws, not an ideological upheaval. Voting blue is a bit much.
