You must be new to america lol americans don’t care who has to die as long as they get their money. We also know it’s not going to stop anytime soon given the amount of surprise coming from americans, despite this being a decades old tradition. How can anyone possibly be surprised when this has been america’s on going tradition for well over 50 years?

The elder Cubans tend to vote Republican. It was the Eisenhower administration that re-settled them here, and was allegedly helping them with plans to re-take their country. Kennedy, a Democrat, did not send air support to the Bay of Pigs invasion, and they do have a strong sentiment that the Democrats let them down on that. Then, in the 1980s, it was Ronald Reagan who offered refuge during the Mariel boatlift. So they have a tender spot in their hearts to the Republican Party, even if the candidate is a schmuck.
It’s not Trump it’s the Republican party that they are attached to for what it use to stand for.
One has to consider the history of the Cuban community in regards to politics. 60 years of Socialism has weighed very heavy in their overall lives, Anything that sounds leftist, or reeks of socialism, is rejected rightly so! They are not going to take the time to analyze, examine or research what progressive platforms may mean to them or how they may benefit from them. The wounds is still open and the scab is lightly covered over. Democrats need to learn, that they can’t change those feelings, they need to change their approach to reaching out to the community and STOP hailing and using words like Socialism, Leftist, Progressiveness. Those are alert words that only pull back the scab and reignite the passion and hurt of what they went through and some of their kin folk in Cuba are still enduring.
You can’t just say “Get Over It, Things Change, NOW Different Agendas Matter” or “That was then, This is now” , their hurt, their pain, their anguish and anxieties Do Matter and must be acknowledged, if Democrats hope to make any substantive in roads in the Cuban community.
One can not move forth until one can acknowledge, face and validate their trauma.
Republicans KNOW this very well and know how to just push the RIGHT buttons to invoke and exploit that same trauma ,only to their benefit. Wake up Democrats, Everyone’s feelings matter.
