It’s difficult to express how strange this all seems to someone living in a north European country, were the sight of police doesn’t bring people anxiety (except for the thief, of course) but calm, and everything related to police work and training is very controlled and under public scrutiny. People and the media appreciate the police, but also expect a high level of professionalism from them, both when interacting with the criminals and the normal people. Typically police training here takes about three years and is part of the higher education system.
Yeah but northern europe is one of the greatest places on earth. This is the USA. Before they can become a great place to live it will take hard work and many years

As someone who lived in Europe for 16 years, it opened my eyes as to how poor the policing is in the US. They have all the wrong priorities and no accountability. That alone is clearly going to breed severe dysfunction.

@Red Rock I think the problem is, that so called protests are so close to a riot that the police need to back off and call in the national guard. The constitution mentions riots and insurrection and that is why we have the militia and they are warriors. The errors are in leadership when they fail to see this and act on it. When there is rioting this is akin to war and that is when you need the warriors.
