This should be about the removal of the abuse of authority, not the removal of authority.
It’s about healing communities.
They want people they can trust when they are in trouble.
It makes sense.
I have an uncle who worked as an internal affairs investigator for a PD in LA county. He said cities pay out millions each year for alleged police brutality allegations. The reason? It’s cheaper. He said 95% of cases would have been thrown out of court if the city had the funds to properly defend these cases. The criminals of the community know this and take advantage.
Mr. Floyd died at the hand of a bad cop and should have not died. Police need to take accountability of their own bad apples. The inner city communities need to stop race on race murders, drug dealings, gang activity and violent crimes so police don’t need to come into these communities.

At first, defunding the police sounds kind of good…but, it quickly sounds like a bad idea.

David Dorn was killed by a criminal. Someone we’d actually expect to do something like murder. While George Floyd was killed by a POLICE OFFICER. You know someone who vowed to “protect and serve”. That’s why his death got so much attention. And this leads people who don’t even care about his death to think that screaming his name will give them the ability to discredit an entire movement for positive change.
