    1. Even more important, what the American People have learned about LBJ, Bush, Clinton, Bush II, Clinton II, Kissenger, Obama, Zbigniew Brzezinski, etc., etc., etc. Ah, the Grand Chessboard. They all Hate/Hated Trump.

    2. Yes, i love Doris Kearns Goodwin, but, Caro’s books are tremendous. The difference is, that, back then, there were decent Republicans.

  1. Interesting that we find out Russia was behind the assassination but Johnson did not want to retaliate which would lead to a nuclear war so allowed a protracted investigation by the Warren Commission that resulted in no real answers. Oswald spent some time in Russia and met with Russians at the Mexican Russian embassy.

    1. Just because Oswald sympathized with the Soviet regime, and tried to live in that communist country, does not mean that the USSR was behind the assassination. Oswald was a socialist/communist, a true believer. The USSR thought he was crazy and didn’t want him. There were a lot of Americans that dabbled in communism, like he did, and realized that it was not really what they wanted. Others overlooked the fact that all the socialist states were totalitarian regimes, and the people living in them were miserable, and are still true believers to this day. One of them is in our Senate.

    2. @Deborah Freedman He was taken out by “a person of interest” before he could speak. The Soviets mastered domestic terror long ago, and now we must contend with victims of ‘conditioned rage responders 9aka adrenaline junkies) cruisin’ for a bruisin’.

  2. That is a very good question, what can Joe learn from LBJ. I don’t know if Joe has a dog but I don’t think the dog should be lifted up by his ears like it will be dry often did. I don’t think Joe should use the N-word that LBJ often used. We all recall that LBJ had a democrat revolt on his hands just prior to signing the voting rights act. LBJ used the N-word to bring Democrats together stating that he will have those N——— voting Democrat for the next 200 years. It appears he was correct.

    1. Check out Biden’s dog Major. 😀 I actually believe that Major is going to win him quite a few friends. ☺

    1. All three branches were designed to be bodies of negotiated compromise. Toxic partisanship has caused this in spiral but it can be easily fixed with a few successes

    2. Antony, don’t be cynical. Look love, believe and trust. Check the facts not what whomever said. C’mon man we are Americans.

  3. Great piece on LBJ and how we move forward as a country. I enjoy and appreciate the articulate and thoughtful morning team headed by Joe and Mika!

  4. I’m liking these little lessons on the workings of democracy. Everyone should watch Eisenhower’s farewell address.

  5. 1:50 And that is what gave your 1% owners the ability to sell their B.S. to the American Peasants! Our time problem started in 1964 when that Democratic President, from the Great State of Texas, signed the Civil Rights Act. That was when all the Southern Democratic States which were Blue Dog Democrats, or if you prefer Conservative Democrats, left the Democratic Party and ran into the open arms of their 1% lords & masters, the republican party. With that new influx of money and manpower, their Madison Ave. Marketing teams began to slowly plant the seeds of division. Long term Plan, simple, to divide and conquer this nation. With the creation of CITIZEN UNITED, corporations are now “We The People” and money is “Free Speech.” You peasants need to get back to work, your owners need more profits.

    1. They won’t get the idea, people like yourself and myself exist in a minority of logical thinkers, somewhere between 8 – 13% of the world’s population rationalise like us, until they are reduced to beating each other with sticks and stones and sheltering in a cave the point is moot?

  6. HR McMaster in his book “Dereliction of Duty” charged Johnson as well as Defense Secretary McNamara with lying to the American people as well as Congress regarding the non-existent event of Aug. 4th, 1964. Going to war based on a lie known to be a lie by the President of the United States.

  7. Well if it was not for Lyndon Johnson we wouldn’t have the 1964 civil Rights act. That would mean we would still be living under Jim Crow laws 😳

  8. As corrupt as LBJ was, unfortunately I believe Biden could teach him a thing or two–well whatever he can remember.
