As a nation you can’t even pay for people’s hospital bills that can’t afford to, you can’t house those without homes and you cannot feed those who are hungry. Maybe focus on the humanitarian crisis before worrying about what’s out there.

You’d be surprised how many things were influenced by the previous missions to the moon, medicine and food production/storage being just 2.
Actually, as a nation, there is over $130,000,000,000,000 in total wealth. We essentially have enough for just about anything. It’s the lack of political will and the power of the superrich that keeps all that wealth bottled up.

What a dolt…such a question.. Been on a plane once, why do I need to ever get on one again? Been outside my house once, why would I ever need to leave again? Jeez, what an innovatorπ

Personally I believe that keeping all of humanity on one planet is a horrible idea. One good calamity and boom every last vestige of our civilization done for. Sure I’m probably going to be either an old person or dead by the time the first human takes a step on Mars but as long as the next generations can explore the stars, it’s all worth it
We canβt leave
If God wanted us to live anywhere else, He would have put us there. Neither the moon, Venus, Pluto or Mars are uninhabitable. Why? Because thatβs the way God intended it to be. So the question is: Why not spend the money on fixing the problems that we have on earth?
Weβre not going βbackβ to the moon. Theyβll come up with some technical excuses for us not to go.
@Tinker Bell those places are uninhabitable, but so is over 90% of planet earth. I guess you gloss over those things when you believe in a magic sky daddy.
I’d rather have a subway in my neighborhood than a rocket on the moon.

Good thing itβs not up to you, then huh?
Beslan was hilarious
Lazy, zero sum game assumption instead of nuanced reasoning.
Then move to a place that has a subway.
We never went to the moon.

FALSE!
Somewhere in the depths of space, extraterrestrials are viewing this event with panic and screaming, “BUILD A WALL!!!”
No sane civilization out there would want us anywhere near their planet.

If we went to the moon, why do we need all this modern tech to try to return.
Surely a 1960βs toilet roll and plastic bottle will do the job πππ

Because usa didnβt go to the moon in 1960βs
We need to focus first on cleaning up our mess here. But I understand the importance of going back to the Moon and then on to Mars. A lot of scientific advancement came from the manned space programs of the 60’s/70’/80’s and early 90’s. I was born in 1963 and remember watching Apollo 11. I remember Skylab, I remember the first shuttle flight, and I sadly remember Challenger (saw it on live TV in 86).
But I’m also a person who cares about our oceans (thus my name) and the planet in general. If we can’t take care of this place, then how can we be expected to take care of another planet/habitat.
@calkelpdiver I don’t know, who is actually cleaning it today? How much is that budget?
@Troy Copeland I think your thinking I am saying take money from one place, like cleaning oceans and put it another place. Maybe hiring 87K tax people can go to the oceans instead. It’s not clear they will directly affect the poor either.
your so right bro! America trying to accomplish too much things at once
Not to worry, Cal… there are no oceans on the Moon. There’s no habitat, no flora or fauna. No Man in the Moon.
*SO WHEN DID WE GO TO THE MOON IN THE FIRST PLACE…π€*
Nope!!!
Exactly. ππ€¦πΌββοΈ
Why is it so difficult for us to return to the moon with todayβs tech? We went 6 times btw 1968-70βs with less computation power than a cellphone!

Money and motivation. They don’t have the motivation to spend the money it would take to go back.
We should not still be using 1990″s technoligy when modern rockets can land on the ground, not the ocean.

Why going to Mars? “Well, we have so much to learn.” Actually, we have so much to learn about our planet. We have to much to save in our planet, we have so much to clean in our planet. If all the money invested in going to the moon or Mars had been invested in saving the planet we didn’t need to look for a refuge in other planets.

It’s because those engineers that worked it out those times are gone and some of the present ones and some workers are woke they don’t use their head just like those in the 70s the world is laughing at us because we called it off.

Because we need to get off this planet. This is a stepping stone to further space travel. We absolutely need a base on the moon.
hopefully there taking there nuclear rocket to the moon. I’m sure that would end the world. Can’t have our luxury without a moon.
Wonderful future still there after all these years… after all that’s happened. Way-to-Go π
