@Rusted Ratchet Garage Libertarians took over a town near where I live. They infiltrated the town government and refuse to pay taxes. They’ve cut funding to the library (now operating out of a person’s garage), the police force (now one officer), the fire department (nonexistent – trucks come from a neighboring town), and social programs for the poor and/or elderly (because who needs the elderly to be warm, sheltered and fed. Right?).

@Dakota Guilt by association is a serious problem and fallacy here. Just because you are fighting with someone doesn’t mean you agree with them ideologically, and the broader ideological spectrum of the entire country is infinitely more important than what a single contracted battalion believes. Now, if Nazis HAD actually infiltrated the government and they represented a larger coalition movement, you would have a point, but there is no evidence of that being the case here. It is irresponsible of you to say that simply because someone is fighting alongside a Neo-Nazi they are on the exact opposite side of you – especially in light of the point I’m making here that they are being used for the explicit purpose of retaining the sovereignty of a government that is largely a democracy and stands for the rule of law and justice. The Neo-Nazi in particular may not agree with those tenets, but the government that is using them to their own ends of democracy certainly is. Again, optimal? No, but also not representative of the whole, which is crucially important when we consider questions of “implicit ideological endorsement.”
And no, my claim was not that no one within the Ukrainian government holds Neo-Nazi views: Rather, that is very much far from the norm. We have right-wing extremist politicians here in our country in the US that hold views far outside the spectrum of everyday politics and often so right-wing that you could almost consider them Neo-Nazis, but they are a fringe group and considered such precisely because it is antithetical to our views.
