It would seem they all have amazing stories of personal service and success. Good to see the news network focused on a program that promotes good, service.
In the US we take so much for granted and expect everything. I’ve traveled the world and seen people that have nothing but manage to do so much with so little. That spirit and determination must be honored and respected. We here in the US don’t truly understand and appreciate just how much we have. This is a place where enough is never enough!
This corporations’ award to someone who has achieved a goal doesn’t negate the real challenges hard-working Americans struggle with daily; nor does it mean we take a country that we collectively built, for granted. Your observations from travels shouldn’t lead to using praise to mask condescension.

@SexPot99 that’s how I initially got into it with the OP. I didn’t appreciate the generalizations about America or Americans, when we have quite a lot of people in this country struggling like hell and making it through all manner of adversity with very very little. On other fronts, in the same country, there are many receiving hand outs on the backs of OUR hard work and suffering, even though we have VERY LITTLE, and they are continuously complaining, putting us down, and asking for more more more. The struggle in America is real, and a lot of us don’t take a single damn thing for granted. Been doing it for generations, and I am the color that everyone says is born with a silver spoon and privilege, and that’s just a big pile of horse💩. At the same time, I can see that maybe the OP’s perspective is partially true…the struggle and all of another people on another continent…and that’s fine in this context…but one should avoid the comparison and nasty generalizations of course.
@William Garcia The way you said you’ve seen many people doing soo much with very little. Many did but they’re underrated. Sometimes it’s just luck
This award is to my way of thinking, shows the goodness of people, and I’m glad that I’ve lived long enough to see this goodness rewarded.
So your idea of a hero is a charity vote? Then just call it the charity award and give it CNN. We already have charities out the wazoo helping people FAR more disenfranchised than anyone on this stage or network. Would you call the recipients heroes? Have you ever even worked at one?
It’s always one or five in the comments, the devil is busy…..they said what they said and it goes CONGRATS to her and the winners🤩🤸🎉
@Carla Manns-Berry Isn’t the devil the father of lies, and also idolatry?
@Arc Decibel My point exactly….not opinion perse…..devil’s still busy
Congratulations to Nelly, in Kenya heroes and heroines are barely celebrated. I voted as much as I could, you’ve inspired me. 🇰🇪
*JUST LIKE IN DJANGO , CNN SAID SHE’S THE RIGHT NGL. 🤭*
Virtue signal received 🕯
yep you guys know how to vote several times eh
@ANDY VAN KERKHOVE hahaha we certainly can vote..

Congratulations Nelly Cheboi for making your mom proud and lifting the name of Kenya and Africa high. 🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪 to the world.
@Jeff Johnson go wash your hood
@Jeff Johnson So she’s living in America? I didn’t know
@Jorgen dahl hood ofnwhat?
@Jorgen dahl oh I get it. Well the truth is the truth. If it’s so racist and terrible here why do people of all races come here? Because it’s not.
@Jeff Johnson you post a stupid comment about some doing good in the world and wonder why I called you out. You are an embarrassment to your fellow trolls, bots and 🤡s
That has to be the most heartwarming and beautiful speech I have ever heard.
Well deserved, I’m so happy for her Mom instilling education and hard work into her daughters., God Bless them❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾
Men don’t shed tears, but not in this case and scenario.Tear rolling down my cheeks freely, moved by Nelly’s speech of a humble begging, Congratulations again Nelly

I didn’t know who was going to win, but I thought immediately how much I loved that lady in the pretty dress .. so glad she acknowledged her mother in this wonderful honor. Congratulations.
No matter what your mother will be there for you… The surreal connection between the mother and her kids ❤️❤️
Not for abusive parent’s sorry 😒
You just made me shade tears. Yet you still talked with strength and zeal… Congratulations 🎉 Nelly. You made Kenya proud. Kalenjins, tugen, we are so proud.
So proud of you Nelly. You’ve done us proud. The best gift on this 59th Jamhuri day! God bless all your endeavours. Thank you for acknowledging mama’s resilience and determination to ensure that her girls got an education despite the Herculean task of raising school fees. Hard work pays. God grant her good health, well-being and a long life. Bless you all. One love 🇰🇪
We need more positive stories like this on every news network.
Congratulations Nelly! You have an incredible spirit and a wonderful mother. Congratulations to Tyler as well. Keep up the high spirits.
Blown away by everything in this clip. The heart of her is something warm to stand in the shadow of with joy.
This is the most genuine speech I’ve ever heard. Articulate, powerful, warm, and authentic. What an amazing, amazing person.
Absolutely 😍👌
This is pathetic.
@A S you forgot the second S in your self description
Sweet tribute
I actually missed what she was being honored for, since this is the first I have heard of her work, but the display of love and affection between her and her mother and her honest gratitude won me over immediately. My make up is ruined now
@Sweet Salvation So was she living in America or Kenya?
@ARTIST HUSNA TALAL she lived in the US but quit her high paying job to return to her native land and help provide opportunities for the children there. In this world of me me me, she is a them, they, their, person of integrity.
@Sweet Salvation I did do some research after seeing this! I’m very glad she will be able to continue her work
Moments like this show the world the beauty humans are capable of creating with their lives, alone. This beautiful mother and daughter fill me with gratitude and inspiration!
I’m so proud of and excited for you, Nelly! It was such an honor to interview you six years ago when you were graduating from Augustana College. You’re a woman on fire, and it’s so wonderful to see you getting excellent support to expand your nonprofit, TechLit Africa! Many blessings to you, your mom, Tyler, and your families! Sincerely, Jane VanVooren Rogers
