That Senator talked right over the top of her constituents with the same platitudes and promises, and offered no voice to her voters. She simply said what President Trump said, almost verbatim! NRA. It has their shell casings scattered all over it. Deplorable.

@Jacob w some sites list contributions by employees as corporate contributions. Most corporations try to keep their public contributions pretty even in order to avoid backlash. When corporations want to influence policy they usually contribute to super-pacs to keep their giving secret, and they send out their lobbyists. One incontrovertible fact is that Republican policy consistently favors corporations and the rich. ALEC, the Koch brothers organization that buys and corrupts politicians, is almost exclusively focused on buying Republican politicians, presumably because they are easiest to corrupt.

The problem with republicans is that they couldn’t care less about what happens to Americans, well, that is until it affects them, or one of their loved ones.
Republican Mike Turner announced his support for a ban on sales of “military style weapons” following the deadly mass shooting in downtown Dayton Ohio after he discovered his daughter was close to being one of the casualties.
“I believe these are necessary steps forward in protecting our country and a testament to American values, which include protecting human life,” Turner, said in a statement
Turner, a Dayton native, said he would also support legislation placing restrictions on high-capacity magazines as well as so-called red-flag laws, which allow police and family members to “quickly identify people who are dangerous and remove their ability to harm others.
Turner made this statement after he found out that his teenage daughter was across the street from the shooting that night and she had just missed being out on the street when the shooting started by just seconds.
So now all of a sudden he cares. He should have cared back in 2012 when 20 babies were cut down with an assault rifle in Sandy Hook.

You are right that it is not the gun that pulls the trigger, but the laws are so lax that anybody can get one.

They believe in crisis actors and not the terribly sad truth, they believe that the moon landings were a hoax and they believe that the earth is flat. Those are two different risks, both deserving of attention.
The risk inherent in the ride to school is not being ignored: there are road traffic regulations, traffic light and signs, policemen, etc to reduce the risk. The risk of incidents on the way to school is essentially the same everywhere in the world.
On the other hand, the risk of a child being shot at, while learning in a classroom, is being totally ignored. You guys are laying up future disasters, children are developing anxiety and depressive disorders at the mere thought of going to school; even when they survive the shootings, all these traumatised children will grow up to become traumatised adolescents and adults, with more mental health problems you guys are not going to be able to deal with.
The risk of a child being killed in a mass shooting is astronomical in the USA, compared to any other developed country. Now, why are you guys trying to ignore this obvious problem? Second amendment rights… which give you the right to own a musket, not a military-style weapon, designed to cause maximum, often irredeemable damage to the human body.
You guys should deal with this problem, the way we in Australia (and recently our neighbours, New Zealand), death with it.

I’m all for the 2A, but there is no justification for innocent Americans being gunned down. My right to live outweighs some sick fvck’s “right” to own an assault rifle. The solution lies somewhere in the middle, imo. Responsible gun owners should recognize the need to deny irresponsible owners, better than anyone.
