We are supposed to be a free and the most powerful country in this world but yet came that close to losing our democracy and our republic! Are you truly okay with that?
We all want our economy to be fixed but it is a worldwide problem that cannot be fixed on our end only. And if you are invested in the stock market, you should be able to see that there are a lot of companies taking advantage of this situation, especially the oil companies! When they make more profits than ever before yet continue raising their prices … when they have untouched drilling rights but yet demand for lands to be opened to them for drilling … When those rises in oil prices have their ripple effects and affect all other prices to rise …
But it is so much easier to blame politicians instead of recognizing that there are other factors at play!

This is from the D.C. National Guard’s Site:
“The D.C National Guard was formed in 1802 by President Thomas Jefferson to defend the newly created District of Columbia. As such, the Commanding General of the D.C. National Guard is subordinate solely to the *_President of the United States._* This authority to activate the D.C. National Guard has been delegated, by the President, to the Secretary of Defense and further delegated to the Secretary of the Army. The D.C. National Guard is the only National Guard unit, out of all of the 54 states and territories, which reports only to _*the President*_.”
The Capitol Police Board, which oversees the Capitol Police, did request assistance from the National Guard after the riot broke loose. While a member of this board, the House sergeant-at-arms, does report to Pelosi, there’s no indication that Pelosi prevented this official from calling the National Guard. Furthermore, another member of the board, the Senate sergeant-at-arms, reports to the leading Republican member of the Senate, Mitch McConnell. There’s no evidence that McConnell prevented this official from calling for support either.
Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser also requested for the National Guard to be called in during the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. That request was denied by the Pentagon, not Pelosi.
In March 2021, Major General William Walker, the commanding general of the District of Columbia National Guard, testified before a House subcommittee that he relayed a request from the Capitol Police for military support to the Army at around 2 p.m. It wasn’t until after 5 p.m., however, that request was approved by the Defense Department.

Me too, I’m a Vet and I was there after the day if insurrection. Another Veteran and I had to walk away because six Hispanic women yelled at the Veteran F. I. And I told them that he is a citizen and should not be treated that way. They ignored my request and the police got in my face and screamed at me to shut up, he was absolutely pathetic. It is embarrassing and this is what soldiers and other service members came home to to see this ugly attack on the oath we held upon to protect and defend the Constitution of The U.S. . It’s a dark day, and as sad and horrible as 911

Much respect to Liz Cheney for standing by her convictions and upholding her Oath to the Constitution. This may very well end her political career, but she has the courage to stand up for truth and what is right and for our country.

As an Indian, I have seen and heard of many coups that take place in the Asian and African countries. But this is the first investigation on an ‘attempted’ coup that has shed the light on what goes behind closed doors during a coup. People who still support trump and his ideas need to understand what could’ve happened and why it is bad. It is the prerogative of the American people to understand this moment in history and to make understand to those who refuse.

Same. The lesson for me is: set all prior assumptions aside and is unite with other patriots who are working to save the integrity of our Constitution. Once our country is passed this crisis and is safe, we can then go about disagreeing on the issues once again through our elected representatives.

While there’s likely very little that Liz and I agree on, I applaud her for this.
Cheney was magnificent last night! Win or lose in the August primary (and I’m not betting against her), she’s playing the long game, and even if she’s out now, she’ll come back later. I can well imagine a hybrid Dem-Rep presidential ticket with her on it in either position. I may not agree with much of her politics, but her fidelity to the Constitution is ferocious, and if I were Putin, I wouldn’t want those eyes staring back at me across the table.
I agree 100%.
George, a hybrid ticket is a great idea and hopefully reduce our terrible divisiveness.
