When are we going to hear about the Republican Plan to provide affordable quality comprehensive medical coverage for all Americans? China does, and they have over a billion people!

@silky johnson Most people are able to buy their own food. I definitely support the food stamp program to help feed the poor and disabled who can’t provide for themselves. The government buys up excess commodities as part of their price supports for farmers. Of course that foods should be distributed to people who need it!
You can’t have two competing health care plans. The insurance industry will offer a cheap plan which only covers healthy people and unload all of the others on medicare. You need the healthy and the sick together to offset the cost so that it works for everyone. That is how every other developed country in the world does it with single payer. That is never talked about when discussing these plans. that fundamentally it doesn’t work unless you have everyone on one plan. They will get compensation for the healthcare bonuses their unions fought for as in increased wages or other benefits but you can’t compete and expect to pay less. This framing is so corporate and ridiculous. Every other country can tell you have to slash your costs and increase your coverage. None of these plans cover tens or hundreds of thousands in out of pocket costs either. Insurance companies don’t make money treating people, they make money denying care.

@Christopher Biddle that’s how all insurance works. If you fall sick, it’s healthy people’s premiums and interest from investments that pay your medical bills. How do you not know this?!
@raju george Exactly. In 40 years of paying for car insurance I’ve never had an accident. My premiums are funding the payouts to those who do have accidents and the people or property they injure. My homeowners insurance helps pay for others who have losses. Someone who gets a $200,000 pay out didn’t fund all of that by their own premiums. Likewise we all pay taxes to fund roads and schools and libraries and fire departments even if we don’t directly use them.
@Christopher Biddle because on average a household will pay 12,000 bucks a year in medical costs. Just because it hasn’t happened to you yet doesn’t mean it couldn’t. And Warren and Bernie’s plans cover dental and vision – have you seen how much prescription glasses or dental work can run on crappy insurance? It is fair to give all people a baseline access to healthcare, because we’re all healthier when everyone around us is healthy.
Your lazy slugs argument suggests that you’re not a very sympathetic individual, but even from a selfish stance your outlook doesn’t make things better for you – it just hurts other people. 🙁

Trump gave us The Right to Try. Obama could have, but he took the bribes from pharmaceutical and healthcare companies instead.
Trump has made great moves on reducing the prescription prices and will make a better deal soon.
On the other hand, what was Obama’s very first order of business? i am sure the snowflakes don’t know the answer. Obama made it where Americans could no longer get their prescriptions from mail order through Canada. At first, Canada said they wouldn’t comply and will continue to use mail order. Then , all of a sudden, Canada had mad cow disease. So the U.S would no longer buy meat from Canada. This hurt Canada greatly. Then the Obama administration told us on a Friday night that we will no longer be able to purchase drugs from Canada. By Sunday, the mad cow disease dissappeared.
Obama did nothing for healthcare except increase costs. Of course , everything is Trump’s fault.

jim bob it’s not spin… it’s the truth. I want Medicare for all, I was just commenting back at someone that not American and from another country getting universal healthcare criticizing us for not having it. They need to be grateful because if we ever get universal healthcare then their prices will go up to compensate for our prices going down.
R C I’m for Medicare for all in the US. All I’m saying for the rest of the world who are criticizing us need to be grateful that the Us has been subsidizing the worlds healthcare cost and drug research and development. If the US does get universal healthcare which I am all for, Canada and Europe’s prescription drug prices will go up some to compensate.
Because in Europe % of taxes taken from the salary is as much as 20% higher than in USA, so we actually pay for it. They want to have free healthcare and keep low taxes…and magic genie will pay for healthcare or something?

Ruhle never misses a chance to push the corporations agenda. Universal healthcare works in every developed country in the world. The US is the richest country in the world, currently has poor healthcare due to prescription costs and insurance companies and still we pay over double what the next most expensive country pays per person. For worse care. It’s not difficult to understand.

In my 65 years, Medicare is BY FAR the best insurance I’ve ever had! I was pleasantly surprised, as I was dreading it.
@bravo 6 charlie I’m a GenX, and I’ve long been told that I’ll be paying into Medicare, but to never expect to have it, because it’ll be gone before I’m old enough to claim it. It’s still coming out of my check, but the prevailing wisdom that I shouldn’t expect to benefit from it remains. Your “never worked a day” argument is beyond insensitive. How about you chat with folks younger than you instead of preaching from on high? Maybe you aren’t too old to learn something new.

The Media keeps focusing on the myth that people like their existing coverage. Nevermind that your current coverage only lasts as long as you are employed (so people are trapped in a job because they can’t afford to lose health insurance) – OR – how you could have good insurance disappear overnight because the HR Department decides to cut corners (or gets a kickback by switching the company, causing everyone’s costs to go up and/or the quality to go down.
C’mon Media, stop defending the healthcare industry already. 🙁
Ask people if the ‘plans’ they have are really all that awesome. Ask people if the co-pays and caps are really great. Ask people if the insurance they have has ever turned down a medicine the doctor prescribed, in favor of alternate (not necessarily the best or most effective) or sometimes no medication. Ask about how much profit private insurers make. Ask about the medical deserts throughout our country.
Ask some real questions!!!
