Ganiscol, it’s quite the opposite of “sugar-coating.” It would ironically be a lie to claim all of those 30K+ statements were lies by definition, because for a lie to be such, the liar needs knowledge or belief contrary to what they’re saying. _Many_ of those statements are verifiably lies, because we have evidence of admitted knowledge, but many _more_ are just false/misleading without credible proof of Trump’s _actual_ state of mind on the matter. The distinction is important not only to maintain your own credibility, but to deliberately separate acts that are either intentionally deceitful, amorally irresponsible (they don’t care if it’s true or not), or those that stem from a sincere belief in a falsehood – all of which are dangerous, but have to be addressed differently.
Abraham Lincoln was a Republican. Look what has happened to the party which was so pro-abolition and now bows to white supremacy groups that assassinated Lincoln. It is certainly now not the GOP for there is nothing grand about it.

The issue at the core of the matter is not “doing battle with the president”. It is about lies and, the misrepresentation of facts. being a president doesn’t excuse anyone from lying or providing “alternative truths”. It seems to me that the world has gone mad.

How can people be able to sense and test what is true when they are not educated enough? It takes a well-developed mind to be able to assess statements to judge which is true or not. beyond that, it also greatly influences the way that people conduct themselves to a certain extent especially when they truly have a love of the intellectual and not just pursuing the securing of a degree as a means to a livelihood.

@Sir1626 – I disagree. In general US journalists are way too deferential to politicians, but particularly those in the Oval Office. European journos don’t pussyfoot around. They call out liars to their faces and challenge untruth immediately. It helps keep them accountable, if not always honest.
