Biggest question is..why only america is prodded to do this to illegal economic migrants ?..why not Japan doing the same? Why not Australia, why not ask UK or Switzerland to do the same to just anybody who wish to change address and status in a snap of a finger ? Why not ask south korea to follow? Or ask even some rich middle eastern countries to open borders ???? Why only american democrats destroying their country?..
I think among the Democrat base there are Hispanics and Latinos who support generous immigration policy because perhaps they were born in the US and get US citizenship at birth but from illegal immigrant parents. And Biden and some Congress people from those districts made promises to those voters in trying to beat Trump. Then, once in office Biden was eager to keep all his promises and announced all the policy changes on immigration at once that gave hope to those migrants. Time to change the Constitution to not grant citizenship to children of illegal immigrants born in the US I think. Anyone coming illegally should not be rewarded in any way or else this is gonna be a vicious cycle.
@TravelerPat The democrats might be making a big mistake, just read the comments on Univision’s reporting of this (not sure if you can read Spanish), but it’s OVERWHELMINGLY negative and surprisingly anti-immigrant. Although there was inkling about this, Trump made lots of inroads with the Hispanic vote and Democrat strategists were finding it hard to connect with Latinos when it came to immigration policies. It’s a complex issue, my guess is that a lot of immigrants who came in based on families or employment are not going to be on board with this, and many who see the possibility of criminals taking advantage of the border, and by extension hurting immigrant communities are going to be hesitant about Biden’s handling of this. I guess we’ll see what the admin can do, I’m generally a centrist btw, I do believe we need to overhaul our immigration system but they also need to take into account enforcement such as eVerify and fining companies that repeatedly undercut wages by using illegal labor and trafficking.
