A decorated former US Army Major says instinct took over when he helped disarm a man police say went on a murderous rampage inside an LGBTQ nightclub here. "I wasn't thinking," said Rich Fierro to a group of reporters Monday night. "I Just ran over there, got him."

The thoughts ran through Fierro's mind quickly, he recalled. "I gotta kill this guy, he's going to kill my kid, he's gonna kill my wife," he said. "He ended up killing my daughter's boyfriend."

Fierro is one of two men police are crediting with saving lives by subduing a 22-year-old gunman who went on a shooting rampage Saturday night at Club Q, a well-known gathering place for the LGBTQ community.

  1. Such a horrible, horrible experience! Of course you don’t feel joy, it was so traumatic for everyone. You are a hero. Praise God for your actions. I am happy that you stopped that monster who is full of evil and hate. God Bless you. My condolences and sympathies for all those who lost part of their family. May all those who passed Rest in Peace. 🙏

    1. @pyr0 are you dumb? Or in-comprehensive? I called him a hero and praised him when I said not everyone makes it out as a hero most come out as the victim. Situations like this happen all the time everyday not all of it makes the headlines or your favorite YouTube short but I digress. And if no one cares what I think then why take the time out of your day to reply to my comment? I wasn’t being Arrogant I was saying what any person who would do anything in their power to protect their own family would think in a situation like this “The perpetrator has to die”.

    2. @Prettyboydarius_24 assuming you know what you would do in an emergency life or death situation you have never experienced is arrogance plain and simple. But if you cant see that you can keep proving my point for me, I don’t think my replies will change your mind lol

    3. @pyr0 okay so the answer’s dumb lmaoo 🤣 I’d rather ‘assume’ I’d know what to do in a life or death situation and be mentally prepared for that vs think like a scared coward such as yourself… anyways you must not know what arrogance means I don’t have an exaggerated perception of my own abilities I’m simply stating that if I was the only person that has the courage to move and make that choice to put themselves in danger for the sake of other then I’d GLADLY be the one to do it for my loved ones. What do you not understand? I’m sure you can find better things to do rather than type meaningless comments under a YouTube short, or maybe I’m being generous assuming you have things to do…

  4. God bless this man. This is absolutely heartbreaking. Condolences to the entire LGBTQ family in Colorado Springs and everywhere.

  5. I’m glad he did what he did to stop the killer but for all who wish the killer dead … Don’t let hatred turn you into the killer you hate.

There is no doubt the world would be better without evil of any kind but the thoughts in your heads may now be the same thoughts he had that you want to kill him for.

I don’t think most killers dream to be killers when they were children and usually their parents haven’t taught them to kill others.

There are many people in pain.

    We are all human.

Self defense in the moment when needed is good and Everyone should be able to arm themselves any time we want, any place we want, any way we see fit and are capable to do so but Don’t let that pain and anger change you into the person you want to kill.

    1. im pretty sure many many many people want many many different killers/violent offenders to die especially sexual offenders and mass shooters since that’s what we seem to deal with the most lately. it doesn’t necessarily make them like the killer, deep hatred for people who murder and hurt innocent people is normal. wouldn’t the world technically be better if those violent people who act on it in the worst ways weren’t here anyway 🤷🏽‍♀️ majority of people who say that stuff aren’t saying they’d actually do it themselves but if they happen to see that one of these violent offenders died they just wouldn’t care/would consider it a good thing. as someone who once was harassed and basically stalked repeatedly by a worker in a mall i worked at and was assaulted by a different guy, i would not care at all if they died tbh. i feel alot of hatred for them i just would never actually kill them myself, and that’s pretty common in general 🤷🏽‍♀️
