It’s a lawful business generally – your state legislators are free to change the system – judges are also free to not set bail and release those charged under certain conditions – from a political perspective judges get scared to set no or low bail as the charge severity increases – they do not want the political heat if someone who they released commits a serious crime while another case is pending. In my 33 years experience in the system I find the bail system to be mostly an unfair one, not every time, but in large part it is an unfair tax on those who have not been proven guilty.
Ok. So the people who vouch for a criminal to not get in any more trouble and ensure that the criminal will show up to court and they are responsible for the criminal should not get paid. That is your argument.I agree.Let’s get rid of bail and let the criminals stay in jail until their court date.

An unfairly arrested poor parent has to choose between, stuck in jail while their family becomes homeless, or go bankrupt and homeless later on when they can’t afford the bail bond goons.
