UK: Russia has lost one third of combat forces in Ukraine

Russia may have lost as much as one third of the ground force it committed when it invaded Ukraine, according to an intelligence assessment from Britain's defense ministry. It added that Russian forces had sustained heavy losses in their Donbas offensive and that "under the current conditions, Russia is unlikely to dramatically accelerate its rate of advance over the next 30 days." #CNN #News

  1. Russia is learning that it is not the size of the dog that matters as much as the fight in the dog.

    1. @Dan Wright It’s right in the middle of current Russia controlled areas. Tough to get good information.

    1. @JOHN Danenberg why should i bring up the american civil war? This is about telling other countries what to do. I could bring up cuba, libya , iraq and syria would these be enough? Ow sorry it is a mortal sin to compare this war to other wars or meddling before because any war u.s. did happened in medieval times they are so scared we cant mention them!

  2. Ukrainians are true Badasses and their courage and determination to survive this long shows the Orcs from Russia had no idea what they were getting themselves into. Stay Strong Ukraine from the US. 💪🇺🇸♥🇺🇦☮💙💛

    1. @Dan Beech Dan. Isn’t my English passable. I try. But.. you caught me. I can’t pull anything over on these chats . The critical insight is too keen. Good job

  3. Regarding the difference in moral:

”If the Russians stop fighting, there is no war anymore.
If the Ukrainians stop fighting, there is no Ukraine anymore.”
    /Peter Englund

    1. @mark stephen But who chooses? Each country has the right to govern itself and protect its sovereignty. When the USSR collasped the Warsaw Pact collasped with it. NATO asked each country which future do you want? The oppression and brutality of Communism or autonomy? Donbass and Lonask are not a countries but proviences of Ukraine. And let’s not forget Crimea. Therefore, they should have been able to preserve their freedom without fighting a war. Putin’s Russia destroyed their independence with his proxy wars and “concealed” “peacekeepers” and annexations. If Russia thinks winning a war is easy try keeping the peace through occupation. We Americans tried that the results were not good!!!

    2. @John Boddie crimea and Donbass was added to Ujraine by Communists. They were never asked. When they were asked, they answered “Russia”. Kiev has only itself to blame. They treated ethnic Russians like dirt.

    3. @mark stephen They are right next to Russia. All they have to do is walk a couple miles East and leave Ukraine and Zelenskyy…

  4. Well done, Ukraine. When the brave & courageous Ukrainian Heroes go on the offensive, there will be no stopping them.
    Ukraine will prevail..
    God bless Ukraine.

  5. It is generally considered that there are at least 2X the amount of personnel wounded, captured, surrendered or deserted. So even if they said 15,000 a month ago, it is no big stretch to say that 50,000 Russian soldiers are out the game. Open source intelligence says 79,000 are incapacitated and give an initial troop number of 190,000. That is easily over 30%. Likewise for tanks and most other equipment. Clare Robertson was comparing apples with oranges and did not do her homework.

    1. @Melanie Brinson both sides are not equal with the propaganda. Sure there is bias as well as deliberare misinformation as a means to demoralize the enemy, but the RuZ is in a completely alternative universe. Except that they are still physically in this one, and they really have to deal with that.

    2. @Keith Twizzy the big red button can be used only once and will mean the end of ruzzia as well. Make no mistake. It is also not a one man call, there is still some barriers between one wayward fool and mutually assured destruction.

  6. Europe gave over 600 points to Ukraine at the Eurovision Songcontest saturday to give them the win. (That is really a lot)
And the party will be in Kiev next year. I am sure. Many nations want to host and pay for Ukraine, but it won’t be necessary I think..
I am so impressed and proud of the Ukranians!!
All my love and respect from Holland. 12 points !!

  7. Russia being humiliated in Ukraine and telling Sweden and Finland what they should do! Is this a joke or what?

    1. @DANNY GADIA Danny, do you know how many bodies 50,000 are? Do you wonder why Ukraine wont show images of this? There woud have to be MASS graves every battle front…Isnt it weird we havent seen these????

  8. If anything, this war has shown Vladimir Putin, the very limits of Vladimir Putin. This war has shown the world, the mismatch between Putin’s imperialistic ambitions and his conventional military capabilities. The “big” and “mighty” Russian army cannot defeat the Ukrainian army.

  9. Being able to hit enemy positions without exposing themselves is going to drive up Russian casualties a lot. Unlike the Russians, they are targeting high value assets instead of just randomly blowing up non-military targets.

Russia didn’t have enough troops to begin with, losing 1/3 of their force to combat ineffectiveness/death means the rout has begun.

    1. @Bryan Dimery your argument tells that u are 12yo kid. Think better if you want to write smth, kid

    2. I think the American Paladin Howitzers are coming into play here. They can fire further than the Russian artillery, are more precise, durable and quicker loading.

  10. Russia (kissing the canvas): “Finland and Sweden, don’t join NATO or else…”
Finland and Sweden (on their armchairs): “hold my beer…”

    1. @Roger Glass shoosh child nobody was or is talking to you this is a grown person talk now go watch coco melon n scram

    2. @Mohamed Kadir Lmao 🤣 you win the internet today. I laughed so hard my kittens stared at me like I’d lost my mind.

  11. When a government lies to its people and troops that they are invading to provide aid, the truth becomes demoralizing – whereas the Ukrainians have the ultimate motivation to defend their homeland. The Russian fatalities may or may not change public opinion, but when the much greater number of injured or disabled soldiers come home and tell a different story than the controlled news, then what? When the demonstrators are wounded and disabled vets, will the Russian people listen? This seems like Russia’s Vietnam (even more so than when they invaded Afghanistan a couple decades ago and failed).

    1. @Hans Otto Kroeger Kaethler I’d say it’s time to stop your argument. No one seems to be agreeing with you (I wonder why)

    2. @Hans Otto Kroeger Kaethler If their goal is to prop up and promote the Ruble, then they won’t want to obtain more foreign currency. Their current foreign currency reserve was accumulated just for this purpose. Demanding payment in Rubles is another way of artificially creating demand. The Ruble is in a bubble that is not sustainable long-term.

    3. Russians are defending civilians which Azov nazis tortured for 8 years. Raped, robbed, burned alive, killed, even torn their passports so they cant escape Ukraine. Over 14.000 Eastern Ukrainian civilians where killed by Azov nazis.

Check videos of released civilians from steel plant in Mariupol who said the Azov didnt let them out of Steel plant. Azov demanded 1 ton of food to release 15 civilians. Mariupol civilians where used as a shield to Azov nazis.

But today they surrendered to Russians. Over 2200 Nazi Azov where in Steel plant. They where tired of drinking their own urine, attempts to escape Russians failed.
Evacuation and surrender continues today at 4a.m. Interesting how no media from US isnt reporting such a big news, neither is any US media talking to civilians that Azov nazis released. I suppose it isnt important telling Americans who are the real bad guys, arming, training Nazis in Ukraine is something normal for US government.

If Russians used civilians as shields, CNN would explode with news. But when Nazis are doing it CNN doesnt report or investigates. Zero.

That is how we in Europe know that US news are misinforming or not reporting the reality and truth.

    4. America lost 58,000 in the Viet Nam war over a span of almost 20 years. The Russians today already lost about half of that number over a span of just under 3 MONTHS.

  12. It would probably be a good idea for Putin to turn his attention to the health of his country and its people rather than his aspirations for greatness.

  13. This is going to make the military exercise going on near finland interesting to watch. Tractors have already lined up to claim free tanks

  14. Forgive me if I doubt your figures. I mean the Russians should know how many troops they lost, right? So I tend to go with Russia’s statement that they have a total of 6 soldiers, a Fiat Panda and 1 small Dachshund called Colin that was with them.

  15. They’ve lost 1/3 of their forces, another 1/3 that don’t want to fight, a large portion of their military hardware, a couple warships and any respect they may have had from the rest of the world. I once thought they were a strong people who love their motherland….now I see a bunch of compliant people who have no choice and have lost their will to fight for their leaders and a population who would stand up to a monster in charge, basically a bunch of cowards. They will reap the rewards of solitude and economic destruction for their failures.

    1. @Михаил Черников my apologies, brother. I was speaking of the military personnel. As to the grain produced in Russia, I don’t wish hunger on Russian citizenry any more than I do on your military. I don’t see a need for anyone to go hungry. But it’s a fact that your military is so badly managed that thousands of your troops are deserting out of sheer hunger, to say nothing of realizing how badly your leaders have lied to them. It will take a while, but everybody will find out eventually.

  16. Congratulations to the Ukrainian forces. The world continues to be impressed by their ability to repel the invaders. God bless Ukraine.

    1. @MrRollerDutch …not to mention some of the finest soldiers on the planet for fighting in the cold.

    2. @Dirk Gonthier I agree but let’s not detract from Ukraine’s success. I bless you and I bless Ukraine.

  17. He’s struggling to put down Ukraine while pretending he’s going to do something about Finland and Sweden joining NATO… yeah right. Overextended and underequipped. Quite pathetic considering they’re right next door to home.

    1. I have to agree with you there.

During the first days of the war in Ukraine, I remember looking at a simplified map that showed the Russian positions around the areas north of Kyiv and the routes they’d used to get there and thinking. “I’m no military tactician but that looks like a bad idea to me.” The reason I thought that was because the Russian forces hadn’t taken and secured the territory that those routes were on. Worse than that, they had apparently skipped several towns and villages along the way. That meant that they had supply routes that passed through considerable lengths of enemy-held territory, which would give the Ukrainian forces an excellent soft target that was vital to the Russians.

And the Ukrainian controlled towns and villages would give their forces good, comfortable places to launch attacks on the vulnerable Russian supply lines from. Not to mention attacks to the Russian flanks. You can imagine how it looked to me when the reports of Russian soldiers going hungry and cold with tanks and other vehicles they had to abandon due to the terrible logistics issues they were facing. True there was no/little reporting that these issues were in part due to Ukrainian severing those supply lines but why tell the world about a tactical advantage?

But what’s pathetic is when your attack plan is so bad a random civilian sitting on her sofa at home can poke holes in it.

  18. Additionally tragic, does anyone honestly believe Russia has the means to even calculate their own losses?
