Well, in fact Trump did say he’d run America like one of his own businesses. Looks like the one promise he’s kept. We’re not yet at the crash-and-burn stage, where he skitters away with some goodies so he can move on to his next scam, leaving a mess behind.

Would not be surprised if he has taken under-the-table payments from vested interests, and stolen tiny slivers of public funds (so tiny they are unnoticeable). (Accidentally of course) — re-tweets videos of his supporters chanting “WHITE POWER!!!” and says there are many wonderful people “on both sides” of White Supremacist rallies — in his simple mind and those of his supporters, the virus is just killing off all the minorities giving him some chance of winning the election again.
It also explains why we see such different behaviors in the USA and the countries that have bent over backwards to all but stamp out the virus among their populations.
So interesting point, but we will see if the trend keeps up as the Red side of the country who it would appear believes masks and social distancing and hand-washing are for wussy Democrats who are too liberal for guns…..start being infected at very high rates. Sure, they get better health care, but at some point the simple numbers add up.

@Paula Witmer you are very fortunate. 1993 ~ midnight in colorado, a 19 yr old teen guns thru a red light as I exit the freeway, tbones me in a tiny honda crx…..result, fractured pelvis in 3 places, broken rib, closed head brain injury, 12 stitches to my skull. 7 yrs of rehab. the kid didnt even get a ticket bc his dad was a famous dr who testified in all the local court cases, I barely could get an attorney, nobody wanted my case due to using the kids dad as expert witness……I am beyond fortunate to be alive. All glory to Jesus Christ.

@Unified Vision Well you do have a point about even a simple scarf helps a bit, by atleast partially eliminating your saliva if you cough. but the real reason is keep a 1 meter distance is more helpfull. or some arms length distance. the infection has less chance to spread then if somebody has to do shop for essential. it isn’t perfect but it reduces the risk.

So deaths and births are opposites: one increases the population, the other one decreases it. People who survive do not alter the population in any way, it stays equal (to keep it simple I’m ignoring other things, like migration that also change the population).
But to have a little bit of fun with your childish argument, in order for both survivals and births to be opposites of deaths, that means that they must be equal, which in turn means that by the mere act of surviving one is also born. It also means that every survivor becomes two people, since it must have the opposite effect on population to that of a death.
And adding the term rate doesn’t save you, since you are talking about rates on both sides. Survival rates must have the opposite effect to death rates, that is survival rates must increase the population, otherwise the two are in fact not opposites. Is this beginning to sink into your thick skull yet?
So, genius, every time somebody survives they are born a second time and they split into two. I could go out and find slugs that would reason better than you.

At one point he said that governors of states had no choice but to re-open exactly when he said, and only backed down when like every Constitutional Scholar in the country said that wasn’t the case. He also threatened (a la Ukraine) to withhold funds for states that waited to re-open just because they were afraid that testing/tracking/isolation weren’t in place yet and the numbers weren’t low enough yet. So what you said, with lots of other painful details that make it even worse.

Look at the massive amounts of testing going on and tell me what those positive result numbers mean to you. More testing= more cases. Declining deaths=improving situation.

Yes, we have learned some tricks and techniques, but as the infection rates soar thru the roof, guaranteed we will not continue to see these low death rates in those places. I was thinking you were just less concerned with the deaths because so many are poor and minorities, but it seems you may really not accept that when half of your city has covid your hospital systems are going to collapse causing all sorts of deaths both from treatable covid and many other causes that would never have been fatal otherwise. Is it one of those or both??
