This happens just about EVERY SINGLE DAY in the US. As of April 30 2021, 178 mass shootings fit the Mass Shooting Tracker project criterion, leaving 206 people dead and 693 injured, for a total of 899 total victims, some including the shooter(s).

Recent statistics show that we here in Switzerland is second to the US in terms of citizen gun ownership , yet we have 0.05 of gun related deaths per 100,000 persons compared to the US 5 per 100,000. Go figure.

I almost don’t know how to react, this is scary but slowly it turns you numb. I just can’t help but wonder if this is the norm now. The people who love their guns seem to have more say than those dying from them hence no change is happening.

It’s really poor taste to treat this as a joke, but essentially that has been, is, and will be the American response to these tragedies. The standard phrase “thoughts and prayers” has become a synonym for “let’s all pretend we care while the cameras are on”.

Well its because no one wants to admit or even acknowledge the reason these problems continue to occur for fear of painting a certain group of people as more violent or prone to violence than others. Everyone wants to think that guns make every race of people commit violence or that if we were to eradicate them then this problem would just up and vanish, while failing to mention that the majority of these crimes are done with stolen guns by people that legally had no right to owning or possessing a gun to begin with regardless. Until people wake up and have the real discussion and admit the things they so desperately want to turn a blind eye to and avoid at all costs, this will continue, now more than ever with the leniency of sentences and the irrationality of pushing the blame onto anyone but the suspect. Notice how there wasn’t a single word about the description or details of the shooters? When there was obviously people that got a good look and can probably remember some easily identifiable details? But oddly enough they want the public’s help in identifying and apprehending them as well without giving any kind of leads to go on besides a “white suv”? There’s a reason for that, and we’re all well aware why they worded their story the way they did.
