Tunnel Fire burns outside Flagstaff causing hundreds to evacuate | USA TODAY

The Tunnel Fire outside of Flagstaff, Arizona has prompted hundreds to evacuate as wind gusts cause the fire the grow significantly.

The Tunnel Fire burning 14 miles northeast of Flagstaff forced people from their homes late Tuesday and has reached more than 9 square miles with 0% containment, forest officials said.

The fire was reported shortly before 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The cause is still under investigation.

Flame lengths reached up to 100 feet high and wind gusts reached 50 mph, officials said.

  1. Smh. Some of that flagstaff tax money should have went to managing all the dry dead branches and trees under the forest near town. I knew this was going to happen.
