Hi Keith, I think those of us at higher risk must double down on our ability to monitor all the protocols (mask, sanitize, physical distance) as we negotiate this covid lifestyle. 4/10 people regardless of age can be asymptotic and positive at the same time to spread the virus. So we can’t let our guard down.
What matters is how we handle it. And I first monitor my thoughts to avoid fearful statements because I need to avoid negative thoughts that pull me down. So rather than dwelling on how there is not concise direction from the government during this pandemic which could shorten my life, I’ve taken full responsibility to monitor my habits and associations by turning thoughts into positive statements.
Yes we’ll (high risk) be locked down for another 6-10 months without a safe, effective FDA approved vaccine but at least we know where we stand. Please know you are not alone! We’re all in this together. By golly, I am learning how to Zoom on Friday because I live alone and I know I am too isolated for my own good. So I must reach out and learn a new way to manage. Also, knowing this will be with us for some time, challenges us to be creative with what we do to be sure our needs are met. That builds resilience.

It was 10 days of fever, chills body aches, and laboured breathing at times. I was lucky. My sister also got Covid. She spent 11 weeks in the hospital, 8 trips to the ICU and I nearly lost her four times. Now she is at home, still recovering. Doctors say she will always have issues with her breathing. You don’t want to have this. You don’t want to have a family member get it.
