Trump’s legal arguments in response to DOJ analyzed

Former President Donald Trump’s legal team has responded to the DOJ filing about the search at Mar-a-Lago. They are arguing that the classified material found at the former president’s residence should have been expected in presidential records. CNN’s Legal Analyst Laura Coates, former Watergate Prosecutor Nick Ackerman, and National Security Attorney Brandon Van Grack analyze Trump’s legal team’s argument.

  1. Eric Herschmann to Trump’s current lawyers-“I’m going to give you the best free legal advice you’re ever getting in your life: Get a great f’ing criminal defense lawyer!”😅

    1. And Michael Cohen and Paul Manafort and Steve Bannon and Roger Stone and Michael Flynn and George Nader and Rick Gates and George Papadopoulous and….

    2. @Yew Han Lim John 7:53 is literally “Then they all went home.” No Jesus as my attorney. Slaves are supposed to obey their masters. No thank you. 👎

    3. @Justin Salmon didn’t assume anything. He had classified material at his house. That is factually correct. Time to wake clown

    1. @Sprinkle of Serotonin type into YouTube what Trump thinks about mishandling confidential information. Perhaps we all can agree? I know trumps changed his position. Do you think Trump would have changed his position if Obama did this to U.S.? Do you think Trump would accept his own excuses if Obama did this to U.S? How about you? Do you think Trumps hypocrite?

    2. @Mike Formusa type into YouTube what Trump thinks about mishandling confidential information. Perhaps we all can agree? I know trumps changed his position. Do you think Trump would change his position if Obama did this to U.S? Do you think Trump would accept his own excuses if Obama gave them? How about you? Do you think Trumps a hypocrite?

    3. @Zam Zam well when you decide to dry your washed linens outside do you expect me to close my eyes while passing by.
By the way im just an observer

    1. @M Hall Oh, trump will be indicted alright but they won’t “drag” him out of bed. Enjoy trump’s indictments.

  2. Is DJT keeping classified documents at his home anything like a serial killer keeping ‘mementos’ of his victims?

  3. “Let me show you how important I still am!!”…..opens the drawer and presents classified information to some drunk golf buddies…..or russians, or chinese or saudis…..what about Bedminster?? What about New York??
What about the story when a country-music star visited him in the white house and he presented him classified documents about china?? And ask the musician what he, the president should do about it?

  4. Correction: Documents should not have been returned long ago. They should have never been there in the first place. That’s the point.

    1. @TRUMP JR
Just be patient. Trump will definitely be indicted. For many years, he’s been settling-out-of-court, but he won’t be able to do that this time. LOL

  5. In the many years I worked in the medical profession, I often took home some confidential patient files. I did so to review them prior to surgery. However, I never kept these files beyond a day or two, and never left them unlocked. Physicians and surgeons have lost their licences because they left patient confidential records unsecured outside the hospital or clinic. Why should a former president be held to a lower standard than a doctor?

    1. @Claudette Earle Melonia dear, where should I hide these high level top secret special clearance documents ?
      Be desk.

  6. If the Judge rules for a Special Master it will show us she cares nothing about the safety of the people affected by the mishandling of these documents.

    1. @S S Well, since she was investigated by the FBI, DOJ and a Republican house committee, it’s okay. You are correct.

  7. So when are they gonna raid his other properties? I’d bet there are more docs at other locations, can’t wait to see that!

  8. Laura does such an excellent job in translating things in laymen’s term. I really appreciate her dissecting..

    1. That’s a whole next level talent— being able to first comprehend a complicated mess like this, and then to be able to break it down into understandable chunks for other people.
