As we consider defunding the police it is time for another look at recent research on killing of unarmed Black Americans by Police:
The recent study from researchers at Rutgers University may inform your thinking about this tragic problem . Researchers say that shoddy police tactics and bad laws contribute more to the disproportionate killing of suspects than bad policemen out for blood.
In other words, it’s a police problem, not a white police problem, conclude researchers from Rutgers University. This finding disputes the common belief that a few “bad apples” lead to more violence against civilians, especially black men, by police.
After analyzing all uses of deadly force by police in the United States from 2014 to 2015, the research team found that the killing of unarmed suspects of any race in a police encounter is extremely rare.
“There might be some bad apples in the police department, but white officers are no more likely to use lethal force against minorities than nonwhite officers,” says Charles Menifield, lead author of the study and dean of Rutgers’ School of Public Affairs and Administration

“Without Police There Is Chaos”…NOT TRUE!! First of all has any State in this Country ever gone without Policing? It has nothing to to with “NO Policing” and everything to do with a different approach to Policing. Being of Hawaiian Decent and born under the Hawaiian Kingdom, Indigenous People (including American Indians) Police completely different and have less or no crime because of it. I believe (through experience) the approach, with the exception that a police officer is actually being shot at, should ALWAYS be with LOVE, COMPASSION and RESPECT! ANY situation that is approached with Love, Compassion and Respect Always works. This does not mean approaching with weakness. Look at Gale Kings interview with R. Kelly, that is a good example of Compassion, Respect and Silent Strength. Silence is more powerful then violence.
