@williamstewart, in terms of impeachment it would fall under the rubric of abuse of power. Having a private citizen, i.e. Giuliani, doing the work that should be the purview of the State Department was an improper use of presidential powers. Just another in the undeniable laundry list of crimes: campaign finance violations, witness tampering, obstruction of justice and emoluments violations. You really need to pay attention, it’s free. I didn’t think it possible, but it appears the Republican Senators are actually starting to see the writing on the wall.

By announcing it officially, it grants them more authority on how the investigation is actually run. Congress, according to Supreme Court history, has the authority to run a much wider investigation then the Judicial branch of our Government. According to the Constitution, a President can be impeached for “high crimes and misdemeanors,” technically, a speeding ticket is a misdemeanor.
