Washington Post's David Smith there is normally a surge in demand for action after a mass shooting in the U.S., and then the momentum usually fizzles.

No background checks are needed. When you give the Left an inch, they will take a mile.
Guns are not the problem we are the problem.
a guest from the Guardian and washington post??these are some of the worst news sources!!
SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED
Well regulated
@NPC-3PO It’s already so regulated that any further regulation would mean no guns
@Error It says bear arms not own guns.
The critics should stop criticizing The President Trump. These critics are the problem for opening a can of worms, why do you think these mass Shootings are happening in the first place. Because they’re encouraging these shootings.
From what I understand, background checks would not have prevented these terrible murders.
Heck, even taking guns away may not have prevented this…. Deranged people will ALWAYS find a way to enact their fantasies.
Mental health, counselling services, etc. If those are funded and enhanced, it may be the way to go.
That’s just my opinion.
Better background checks would probably not have stopped many (if any) of the shooters. I’ve been saying this would happen. Now they’ll start failing anyone who’s taken anti-anxiety medications before, and doctors hand those out like candy. I can’t remember the exact figures but something like half the country is on some type of psychiatric drug.
Politically speaking, this is the correct rhetoric for Trump. He appeals to moderates with platitudes that he himself cannot deliver on, as congress absolutely will not pass any gun reform legislation right now. His base might be a little ticked off but they’ll get over it.
He spouted similar platitudes after Parkland HS iirc, then rapidly started backpedaling. Nothing will change. The lobbyists own the politcians on all sides in D.C. pretty much.
Probably some of the comments on this video will have been planted by some boiler room run by an NRA funded consulting firm.
Ban automatic weaponary it’s against the law and violates the second amendment. Miltia’s need government approval individuals buying an automatic weaponary is against the second amendment.
you should learn American and Canadian gun laws.
The cowards refuse to improve the well-being of the nation.
Why would any legitimate Canadian news site invite comments from a Washington Post contributor? Why? The Post is a grotesque aberration of the great paper that once existed there.
He needs to look out for the people of Toledo hehehe
