I feel your pain. And I’m well aware of the problems of wealth, class and race in the legal system. There are, indeed, two systems. Unfortunately, adding to inherent injustices in the legal system, on a practical level, the problem with a good deal of white-collar crime is proving “intent.” It’s easier to prove intent in an armed robbery, breaking and entering, or drug dealing. And, of course, wealthy white-collar criminals have an easier time paying the best attorneys to help them obfuscate the issue, making proving “intent” even more difficult.
