@Ashley Horne Regardless of your crime, if you are poor and a minority, you are most likely to be sentenced to death than a wealthy and/ or white person…who committed the same crime, who also knew the law and chose to break it…the first thing that the DA announced when bringing charges against both OJ Simpson and Robert Blake was that they would not be seeking the death penalty, though both crimes fit the legal criteria, as such, but they knew it would hinder their cases even more as jurors tend the give the rich and famous a pass on serious crime…the penalty is not saught, nor is is it given equally, it never has been…and let’s not forget that some people convicted of crimes, in general, as well as in death penalty cases are sitting in prison, and some who were sentenced to life without parole or death are innocent and have been exonerated…some are still waiting…some have been put to death…while those sentenced to life without parole still have a chance, those put to death do not…and if you are ok with “some” innocent people, mistakenly, being put to death as long as it’s for the ” greater good”…well than, how many innocent people being put to death are you ok with….1000, or 100 or 10 or 1…if it’s 1…what if that 1 person was you or your child or parent, yes, it can happen to anyone…you have to ask yourself, if I believe it’s wrong for a woman to have an abortion, why do I not think it’s wrong to put an innocent person to death…placing the responsibility on DA’s, who will do anything to win, or jurors, who have made mistakes, may take the responsibility from you, afterall, unless you were on the jury, or were involved in the capture or prosecution, it’s not your fault…and what if they’re guilty…if it was someone I loved, I’d probably be screaming for blood too…but that wouldn’t make me right…I’d be screaming for revenge, not justice…the question is, do we as a so-called civilized society have the right to impose death on anyone as a form of punishment, as a form of revenge, whether we get it right or not….
