While we can’t be sure _exactly_ what is going to happen we can actually be pretty sure what is *_not_* going to happen.
We have pretty accurate models for the spread of diseases and when a contagious virus like Covid-19 is loose in the general population it is not just going away on it’s own.
This is _not_ just theory, we have hard data from 1918 and other outbreaks up through the twentieth century.
This guy’s prediction about half the population getting Covid-19 may be “wrong” in the sense that it could be a quarter (unlikely with the current knowledge) or three quarters, but it is *_not_* going to be just 50000 deaths in the US when the worst is over in two years. It will be at least 10 times that number.
It is sad, but denial will only make it worse.
Sometimes reality sucks, but let’s face it bravely and aim for the lower numbers instead of put our heads in the sand and create more suffering than necessary.
The flu doesn’t go away and in 13 weeks kills more people, and we have a vaccine for that, don’t figure.

I am aware the White House has offered up several explanations. Either Democrats politicizing the virus is the hoax, the media’s coverage of the virus is the hoax, he didn’t say anything was a hoax, or he was joking. I’m not sure I believe any of those. I think the comment speaks for itself.
BTW the link you posted is edited. In the full version, he brings up Russia then he rambles on about the Democrats loosing after he says, “they can’t count their votes” and before he says, “this is their new hoax”. Nothing really relevant but it does put some distance between him talking about them politicizing the virus and calling it a hoax.

In the podcast he said surgical masks don’t work for protection (which they don’t, obviously cause air goes right through them) and he said N95 masks are very effective to stop the virus. So i’m not sure where you got that he said masks don’t work? That still holds up now. For testing he’s saying we logistically can’t test enough people because we will run out of reagents needed for the test, so its never going to happen. We don’t have the supply chains. Are we going to have everyone home for 18months? Will people really accept that, we have to be adults and deal with tough choices, is what he’s saying.

Judging by who is acting in the interest of their population and which governors and elected officials are urging on to save the economy instead of lives, i’d say it’s more than clear this is a red problem first and a whole society problem secondarily. Let’s just accept that none of us will know the truth. It does not matter what China or W.H.O. said or did not say. There will always be conspiracy theories and finger pointing and neither of these will make any difference in the end. The fact of the matter is we have been warned of such a crisis for decades.
