This is just one of at least 253 restrictive voting bills Republicans have introduced in 43 states since the 2020 election. Michael Steele joins, asking "do you think Black folks are just going to sit by and let you get away with this?" (This interview is from MSNBC’s “The Beat with Ari Melber, a news show covering politics, law and culture airing nightly at 6pm ET on MSNBC. ). Aired on 03/25/2021.

'This Is Suppression!': Steele Slams GA Governor For Voting Restrictions Law
Amen Bishop Reginald Jackson and Michael Steele!
@Anonymous Anonymous wrong again
Who said it is better to give than to receive? I guess not in Georgia its illegal to give free food
@Anonymous Anonymous how cute, you’ve still got an imaginary friend in the sky!
The bishop mentioned Coke, a company that has shown an outright racist view of white America. Coke set training for their employees to be less white. The Bishop is a scum bag.
amen and pass the crack pipe and hookers
Never drink Coca-Cola products or use their products…it is that easy!
@Ford Prefect what do you wash your candy bars down with. Candy bars and sodas go together.
@Terrier Queen if they donate to them it’s the same thing.
David Brown Candy bars are packaged diabetes don’t eat them. And whoosh I know I know.
@Terrier Queen All I am saying is if a company supports a negative cause or pretends to support the popular one the turns their backs….then stop supporting those companies….as they support the Republitards….lol
@Robert Macdonald No one said Coca-Cola supported any cause. They just mentioned Georgia as the HOME of Coca-Cola….
I’m so tired of the republicans so sick of them
@לוין חנניה כהן לוין all racists voted for Trump so STFU.
@Anonymous Anonymous incel.
@Anonymous Anonymouscry like Bret Kavanaugh? 😂🤣 Incel p.o.s.
Qlue Qlux Qlan
@Jay M They guy got more black and latino votes than any other republican president in history, are they racist too?
What about Quid Pro JOE ? and with BIG MOUTH ABRAM’S in Georgia you know there was Cheating going on LIKE A HAMMER LIKE A HAMMER WHAT CRAP only on mnsbc
This is psychotic!!
This is un-American!
I don’t condone violence, buuuuuut….
@David Watson like all the rest of the world?
@Ford Prefect Mahatma Ghandi
David Watson It is better to be violent if there is violence in our hearts, than to put on the cloak of nonviolence to cover impotence- same guy.
@Ford Prefect That’s not saying what you think it’s saying, and is going over your head a bit… I mean he is throwing some serious jedi level shade there. Twist it however you want but it’s kind of an own goal there champ
@Ford Prefect Yeah killing people that disagree with you is definitely the move. Not facist at all…
Brian kemp !! This is ONLY TEMPORAL.
IT WILL NOT STAND.
JUSTICE WILL ROLLED ON LIKE A RIVER;
AND RIGHTEOUSNESS AS A EVER FLOWING STREAM:
FOR GOD’S LAWS WILL REMAIN IN THE EARTH;
AND THE PEOPLE WILL LEARN
RIGHTEOUSNESS:
New Jim Crow Era is well alive in Georgia. Will never visit Georgia or drink Coca-Cola again.
It’s not stop overreacting.
@Uncle Buck The way you are mockingly approaching this, yes your approach would be racist. It does not sound like you understand that BET was created to give opportunities to Black entertainers that were shut out of the entertainment industry….much like the all white R’s wrote, passed and signed the voter suppression law in GA.
@Uncle Buck It is even worse that you seem to refuse to admit the role of white ppl in your response. All of what you said was wrong for those ppl to do what they did, yes you are correct there were Black Africans who sold other Black Africans into slavery….no one is disputing that or giving them a pass. Yes slavery was a complicated period in human history….but part of working through all of this is to admit everyone’s role in it…..including the white ppl in this country who hung Black ppl even well after slavery, who used birtherism against Obama right up to this video of white R’s refusing to appeal to Black voters and instead trying to suppress voters of color. I admitted your points, will you meet me half way and admit to white racism. All white are not racist, but there are still ALOT.
@Jaylin How do you know ? THEY NEVER EVEN TRIED !!! THEIR REFUSAL TO EVEN MAKE AN ATTEMPT IS WHY THEY COME ACROSS AS RACIST.
@Webb Super know matter what they say the left will always call them racist. They could donation money and sacrifice their lives for black people and the left will find a way to make them out to be racist.
Like a hammer yep I believe we will not stand still we are not standing for this.
I’m white, and I’m not gonna take this sitting down, even though I’m up north.
All I can say is that if it is now “illegal” to bring water to somebody standing in line to vote, I hope that the good republicans standing in line to vote suffer from heat and thirst and nobody comes to their aid as well. Gotta uphold the law, y’all!
@Anonymous Anonymous no. No one told you that. Another qanon moranon here.☝️
@Anonymous Anonymous Spell much?
yeah im not sure the other side will suffer because of selective enforcement. like they do with every other law. there will be some excuse as to why this part of the law is only enforced at polling sites in black communities
@Anonymous Anonymous folks in kentucky have a problem with selling/buying votes…..this is well-documented and folks were sent to jail……..that is where they need the law…..this is not a georgia problem.
They are to stupid to realize that they are hurting their own voters too.
I’ll bring a tanker truck full of water for these people
and I have a dozen friends who will do likewise – anyone else?
the best way to stand up to this type of corruption is by non-violent social disruption
ALSO everyone stay home from work on voting day – make it a holiday – call in sick – whatever we have to do
Business owners would be truly patriotic and civic heroes if they gave their employees half day off to vote, with pay.
Have two shifts. 8-12 and 12-5 or something. Half the staff could vote before work and the other half could leave work at 12 and vote.
The idea of closing polls at 5pm is ludicrous!
@B K
It only takes 15 minutes to vote once you’re inside the polling station.
More like 5 if you already know who you’re voting for and the yes/no referendum question choices you want.
Some areas have fewer polling stations and, within those polling stations, fewer voting machines. So the lines to vote are longer than in many other wards and precincts.
If you live in such an area and are forced to stand in line for hours just to get to the poll and spend the 15 minutes while inside, the idea that it is illegal for somebody to bring water to you is downright oppression!
I’m not talking about one candidate having volunteers passing out bottled water with the candidate’s name on it as a form of a “reminder” of who to vote for. I mean the child of a parent waiting in a long line cannot legally bring mom, dad, aunt, uncle… whomever, a bottle of water?!
Guess what? Michael Steele, a republican strategist, has said it correctly.
The people WILL vote and they will vote out the oppressors!
show id or no vote. good bye.
@goo guwl you pay taxes – you are automatically set up to vote
most civilized countries have that
yessssss
Even with this, Kemp will still lose the next election.
Think this will trigger protests?
He has doomed himself to lose. He stole the governor’s job from Stacey. Win it for her!
Hopefully!
He lost already, he’s a fraud
yes if he dont steal it again
The Republicans are doing what ever they want to do .so let’s see what the democrats are going to do
@DJ Simma that’s a shame though. because they need to step up and fight this bs
Fight!
Riot
According to the time article. The left changed some laws about campaign donations. Pretty sure Trump has deep pockets. Isn’t he going to use his money to make things happen?
Well the thing is, the dems respect the rule of law; they’re not out there trying to repress the vote. The GOP should be ashamed of themselves. Actually, they should just roll up and go home. Shame on them. Kemp is criminal.
Stuff like this only serves to make me more determined to vote.
AMEN thats what I’m saying;
ALL HANDS ON DECK!
THIS FIGHT IS JUST GETTING STARTED!
👊
@John Wellington there’s actually a study that was just done by the Cambridge University on the extremists minds the conservatives in particular and you’re right, according to their study they’re not very bright
Exactly, this will totally backfire!
@John Wellington 💯😆
We can hope this voter suppression effort BACKFIRES and destroys the GOP.
Steele is speaking truth to power. He hits the nail on the head as does the bishop.
Always the cliched phrases with liberals. Btw you forgot to say “jim crow.”
@Anonymous Anonymous always the dismissal with you Karens. BTW you forgot to say ‘trump 2020’
@Anonymous Anonymous always storming Capitols with trump jihadist supporters. Btw you forgot to overthrow democracy
@Anonymous Anonymous always the divisive BS with you trolls. btw you forgot to develop analytical thinking or any sense of morality in your battle against truth and equal rights for all citizens
How are the Atlanta sports teams taking this. I believe athletes are getting more and more political these days. I hope they speak out.
@Jay Kay they can share whatever they want. I support that. I laugh at you sad people who need to know how “popular” people feel about an issue before forming their own opinions after doing research themselves on the topics at hand and deciding for themselves how to act, feel, vote, dress, talk etc…
It truly is pathetic. But I support people’s freedom to grift others feelings, talking points, attire and so on. Peace.
@Javier Aldape prove me wrong then. I will wait.
@Steven Davis what court looked at any evidence or listened to even one of the thousands of citizens who gave notarized sworn affidavits under the penalty of perjury before they threw it out? Is that justice? If your house was robbed, your neighbor witnessed it, a different neighbor witnessed and recorded it, both gave norarized sworn affidavits and a crooked judge refused to even view the video or listen to either statement did your house really get robbed then? There is no report. Does that mean it never took place?
@The Conscientious Perfecter the law will make it so that you must live in the state and that you have a state Id to vote. How is that voter Suppression?
@Uncle Buck what’s your profession? Are you divided or United?
Now you are making black people come out even stronger.
And Latinos
yessss cause we come in numbers baby
@D Guerrero and Latinos what??
@Skelly Joe
You scared boy
@D Guerrero of what? You? No. Like I said before to imply that just bc you are a certain demographic or ethnic group that you must vote Democrat is racist in itself. I am a Latino and no I won’t vote Democrat. So no I am not scared. Sorry I am not going to be told what or how to vote by you or anyone else. Nor will I be lumped into something bc of my ethnicity.
And I guess the state can put in their own electors talk about stealing a vote this is going to backfire a big time
This is disgusting. It’s time to BOYCOTT Coca-Cola & ALL of the Atlanta based mega corporations standing by while their largest consumers are so blatantly disenfranchised!🤬
Michael Steele! He nailed it. This gives so much momentum to everyone who is fighting for the right to vote.
Michael Steele knows the ‘games’ these GOPs like to play, and he named them and shamed them.
“VOTE THEM OUT VOTE THEM OUT” this should be the chant of the suppressed. How can they be so blatant in the USA?! 🤯
