Third quake hits C’bean within 48 hours

ROSEAU, Dominica (CMC) — An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 jolted Dominica on Monday, but there were no reports of injuries and damage.

The Trinidad-based Seismic Unit of the St Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI), said that quake, which occurred at 2.58 am (local time) was third to be felt in two Caribbean islands within a 48 hour period.

Over the weekend, Trinidad and Tobago recorded two earthquakes, with the second occurring on Sunday with a magnitude of 4.2, following a 3.6 quake on Saturday.

The Seismic Unit said that in the case of Dominica, the quake was located 58 kilometres (KM) north east of Roseau at a depth of 10 km. It was at 15.72 degrees north and 61.07 degrees west.
