The thing is it ultimately isn’t about listening anymore after these 4 years (5 including the nomination process). It’s about understanding those views represent, in part, the core values of your life partner. To truly, without reservations, support Trump any individual has to make some incredibly dubious tradeoffs on their morality or just live by a party over country mentality. Those are just a given by now and people should act appropriately in finding out for themselves if they can partner with someone who holds that kind of ethics. It’s really not about listening anymore as 5 years is long enough to find out what draws a person and why they’re so supportive of such a flawed character.
In 4 years, I heard enough.
In North Korea, they worship out of fear. In America, they worship out of stupidity!!

That was before Newt Gingrich made compromise completely unthinkable. We are seeing the fruits of zero-sum politics.
It is the “I am always right” mentality. Doesn’t work very well in marriages either.
Politics are so different today. Trump has polarized the nation – especially women. I am married to a man who has been independent for the 30+ years we’ve been together – as have I – but he can see how evil Trump is and strongly dislikes him. I don’t know what I would do if he supported Trump and everything he stands for: a life of privilege he never earned, cheating, tax evasion, bankruptcies (leaving millions of dollars in unpaid bills to independent contractors in some many cities. Look at Las Vegas and Atlantic City. He just comes in takes his millions and devastated the economy. Hmm … sound familiar? I would wonder if I could still love a man who thought that way and was able to just push all of that aside for any reason.

@Jodie Banks I think everyone is susceptible to low information/disinformation which is rife online. However, to support Trump right now is unfathomable. He keeps saying things which are obviously and demonstrably false, for years! One of the more recent is the virus “rounding the corner”. It seems to be that it has rounded the corner 4 times and they are back to where they started.
I am not a political person, but I can see clearly that what Trump is doing is detrimental to the world. I have no choice but to take notice now.
