Self-centered people tend to ignore the needs of others and only do what’s best for them. So, let’s do as John F. Kennedy said “ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”
It’s no wonder that it’s mostly those on the political right who are complaining about masks. They’re the same people who keep fear-mongering about socialism. Some things are better off handled by the government, the collective, and some things better left to the free market and the individual. They have a fundamental misunderstanding about the need to balance the two.

Reopening once the virus had curbed and cases went down…is fine.
The economy matters in that reguard.
The problem is…
Abbott reopened while Texas was still having cases rise.
He also didn’t set health mandates (Masks, Gloves, etc) which can cause a relapse.
Hence the current situation.
