I feel for people in Red States. Denial isn’t a good strategy. Permanence should have set in by two. If you still think covering your eyes makes things disappear you missed a big step in childhood development. This virus is real. If you think your politics or prayers protect you your a danger not only to yourself but everyone around you.
Acceptance is the adult thing to do. Accept it and follow the expert advice. But I realize I’m lecturing people who think the Earth is flat and reptile people have taken over our government. You can’t reason with crazy.

When I was growing up, my parents couldn’t vote for 22 years because Texas required you to pick up your absentee ballot in person within 60 days of the election and my dad was in the military and here and there around the globe.

The Flu Deaths from 2018 flu season in Texas were just shy of 10,000. I don’t think these numbers will make Trump look bad because we are no where near that right now. Maybe in the future but I am more scared of the flu than Covid based on pure numbers right now.

We are under 400 daily infections for the entire country with those numbers going down. Our government understood that you pay dearly on the front end so you aren’t completely devastated and out of all options on the back end. Carriemchardy Carrie Let me interpret what I said because I think it got misunderstood. I mean we have to go about life with some risk. We do it everyday. People sun bathe, but the government can’t step in to stop people. The flu comes around every year, but people don’t stop their lives- most take precautions. Same goes for the common cold. We just need to gauge our own health. One last thing. This virus is almost entirely media scare tactics and hype. Not hype in that it doesn’t exist but the type that repeats itself over and over like a bird.

You do realize you made an error in your number by a factor of a ten? It’s 125,000 people who have died of COVID-19. Probably more, since the early deaths were often ascribed to factors like pneumonia.
