    1. @David The violent crime rate peaked in the early 90s because of the crack cocaine epidemic, not lead.

    2. @tartrazine5 Canada was one of the last countries to ban leaded gasoline like until 1990 and usually lead levels lag behind crime rate a couple years. Crime rates are probably complex and have multiple causes but lead is definitely a part of it.

    3. You should read about London Ontario, many children and woman murdered from 1959,to 1990s, they called it murder city . It had more murders per capita in North America then any where else. We also have more population.

  1. Canada needs to bring back the death penalty and many Canadians feel sorry for the criminals, that is crazy.

    1. Life for life like it use to be, we’re over populated anyways. Not life in comfortable tax paid prison with no responsibilities and vacation for rest of their worthless life. At least open work camps again.

    2. @unknown If someone gets killed then they have to be executed by the government, that is not a human rights violation, what about the innocent victim in senseless violence.

    3. @Hondo Trailside What are you going to say to the victim’s Family, the criminal made a mistake he deserves to live and terrorize another victim.

  2. I think the solution is simple. Lock these offenders away for the rest of their pathetic lives, instead of releasing them the next day.

    1. @Bellini94 for everyone who participated in the military, government, and who worked in the military industrial complex inshallah 🙏 we are western born Muslims and we follow one set of laws

    2. There are many Canadians who believe that locking them is inhumane, the best way is to bring back capital punishment for murderers. For violent crimes without death, will spend at least 25- 50 years in Prison. For thefts such as car thefts and home burglars 10 to 20 years in prison. What do you think about that my friend.

  3. A couple of weeks ago a teen was stabbed by a random mentally ill person here in Toronto. He was just standing around at a subway station. Canada is going downhill.

  4. Stay vigilant. A stranger is always to be considered guilty before considered innocent.

  5. Citizens should be allowed to defend themselves not only with their hands, but with pepper spary, tasers, etc

    1. Even in the most pro gun places this kid wouldn’t be allowed a gun to defend himself. We need to ban all guns and stop new guns from coming into the border that will be more effective.

    2. @Dark Bright Ya, that should stop the stabbings. Maybe we should ban all knives and other sharp objects, too.

  6. Condolences to his family and friends. Since the young offenders act was implemented years ago has caused more violence on the public. Stiffer sentences need to be handed down to show them that the public are not going to take it anymore.

  7. “This level of violence is concerning”? “Concerning”? How about “outrageous”?, “savage”?, “unforgivable”?, “intolerable”? … there are many appropriate ways to react, but the cool and detached “concerning” is not one of them! If this is the strongest approbation our public officials can reach for, we have truly become jaded!

  8. I hope they actually keep their word and put Police on public transit, unlike here in Toronto recently where we were promised the same thing and got about a month of police presence and then they said sorry guys to expensive have fun on your own.
