  1. Come on Jamaica move away from drums . You don’t know about dumpsters? Drums is for water not for garbage collection!

  2. Even 1 Teacher leaving the island should cause them to look at what is the driving force. She should be ashamed to say that.

    1. There shud be no shame. Teachers do that all over the world. Jamaica is not the only place teachers leave, if it were so, they wud not be able to pick up jobs elsewhere. Even in the US teachers are resigning, going to other countries. Someone had to leave for others to get job. So many teachers are without jobs.

  3. It’s a grave problem. More than 90% of those who have left have not tendered resignations.
She is relying on Principals reports, interesting. I wonder if she is aware of the relationship between some Principals and Teachers. Am saying this to say that her information is unreliable.

  4. Just pay the teachers more money it’s wickedness for someone to work hard and there salary is low give them more money, give it to them likewise any other who is under pay.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™‡๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ“–

  5. Teachers will go where they can get more for their family….it is so hard as teachers to pay so much for their degree then sit in class for hour five days for the week under pupils that disrespect them and nothing comes from it and go home under stress tired can’t even assist your family and when month end come they can’t pay bills, go doctor for check up, treat family, provide groceries and go back to work for the month..not nice at all and with all these drama that is going on in school..sigh smh..

  6. So even if they resign what happened to all the teachers graduating from college? How many graduates do we have this year

    1. They simply wonโ€™t teach and find something else or they go overseas to teach because what they are getting pay out here isnโ€™t enough for where they are traveling from plus light bills, children and food

    2. The graduates are not easily accepted because they lack the experience that the teachers who are resigning have so principals are hesitant in accepting them

  7. There is no shortage of teachers many leave college and many leave long time and can’t get job glad they will get a job now

  8. Teachers have always been the lowest paid professionals. I remember getting $173.00 monthly after internship. When I left in 1995 my salary was under $7000.00
However, I must say we sometimes see the grass as greener on the other side but there are always real issues we may not be able to conform to. Indiscipline is a very big issue in America’s school system. My advice is, ” Think before you act.” Really not easy here!!

    1. That’s actually incorrect. Registered nurses are paid lower. I had a brother who was a teacher and when he left school with his degree he was receiving more than I was, even though I also had my degree and was a specialist nurse with 8 yrs experience.

    2. @Bb Hjh
I have first hand experience. I was a RN in Jamaica, sent my brother to university in Jamaica and when he graduated he was getting about $30,000 more than me as a primary school teacher. I had a nursing degree and was specialist trained with years of experience.

  9. There are lots of highly qualified teachers still available, but they are not been hired to work because they’re not been paid.
    Shame on you.

  10. Many people will soon stop working for company what many paying is a shame people work for years an can not buy a land or a plywood or ply board no chance for the poorest people

  11. She can talk anything because 90 teachers leaving the system it’s a SHAME Teacher’s Nurse and Doctors jumping on the train because they are under payed

  12. Create better incentives for teachers, nurses and other essential workers. Build affordable houses that will go directly to them, fully financed by NHT at lowest possible interest rates. Pay them better and give more scholarships and grants towards higher education. In return, they should maintain employment in their respective careers for a certain number of years or pay back whatever help they received.

  13. Nothing not wrong with crime nothing not wrong with nothing in this country everything is so good until the real story come to bum when all the birds come home to roost my daughter left from last year this year I know 15 teachers who left this year she dont know nothing give one young strong floyd green or pernell Charles the minister this woman font have a clue what she doing
