Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala Jr. will not offer plea deals to the clients of a Black defense lawyer who accused the prosecutor's office of racial bias. Attorney Milton Raiford said Zappala was sworn to protect all residents, but does not believe that is happening.

As an old white guy with a black family I love dearly, I am very aware of what it is like for black folk, especially black young men, to have to constantly be on guard every time they go out in public, never knowing how or when systemic racism could come and destroy their life or family. White people have no idea how a life time of having to be on guard and having to teach your kids to be on guard can negatively effect folk, and make them fearful, resentful and angry! I don’t want my young grandchildren to know that feeling!
