    1. @Kolin Mademe oh, your the guy who constantly rails against something you secretly wish you could be a part of. Classic

  1. And the Michelin guide was originally created to sell more tires! Having a list of all the good restaurants gave people reason to drive across the country and use up their tires.

    1. @Ritapita73 $150 a plate restaurants are what they are, certainly not for everybody, and definitely not 5x better than $30 a plate restaurants, but you can spend $30k on a cantaloupe, truffles are worth their weight in gold, and Pappy’s whisky really is special even at $200 a shot.

    2. @YouWillbe Mocked wtf is wrong with you. Mass spamming your hatred for the french in nearly every comment. What’s your problem, eh? Stop with your nonsense because it is not funny.

    1. French tire company too. The star system evolved from a newsletter where they highlighted restaurants people should consider going while on road trips.

One star meant it was worth stopping by if on the way. Two meant it was worth a detour. Three said it was worth making an entire trip just to visit. Today it somehow has evolved to the most prestigious award a chef/restaurant can receive. Don’t ask me why.

  2. For the people saying “Whatever it doesn’t matter” it actually is a pretty big deal. Many huge competitions and prestigious organizations require full stars for entry. Just because you aren’t in his shoes doesn’t mean nobody cares about it.

  3. Man the trolls are out in force. Don’t you guys get sick of 24/7 trump, Epstein, war, oil, crap? I enjoy the change of pace.

    1. My thought as well. Besides it’s a holiday week, why can’t we have a holiday from all the stressful news going on, right?

    1. @Turnible Spencer The aggregate opinion vs the expert opinion, that’s the question. If I see 468 people give an average of 4.7, and I read through the reviews that gave only 1-3, I can get a better idea of what my experience will be like that relying on the one experience an expert had.

    1. @J.A. Monta That’s beause the FRENCH are DUMB and LOW IQ… and always think they are BEST…. its the DUNNING-KRUGER Effect.

    2. @YouWillbe Mocked Well, everyone have an opinion. I have eaten french food and is delicious. You look like you need some breakfast crepes this morning. 👍

    1. It’s not first worst problems, for many restaurateurs it is their livelihood and a way to keep their doors open especially when you’re talking about nicer restaurants, people have to be really enticed to be willing to pay those prices which is why reputation is everything for these chefs. The food industry is a fickle one, often dictated by stupidity like star ratings and food trends.

    1. He isn’t asking for his star back, he’s asking them to make the rating system more clear and to know WHY he lost his star.

    2. I mean there’s nothing hypocritical about it. If some giant news agency puts out a report that your work is very good, and then retracts the story and says your work isn’t all that great, the overall effect is negative from before you had the report done in the first place. Just because the system is stupid doesn’t imply that he shouldn’t want it kept after the crappy system takes hold of your career.

    3. @YouWillbe Mocked
And corner stones of USA food is French Fries from Belgium , Hamburgers from Germany , Pizza from Italy and Tacos from Mexico .

  4. Now a days good places are rated by real customers over the internet in real time. Who need a Michelin star?

    1. Yea I don’t care what plate of $150 risotto is approved by Michelin tire company, is m not going to eat any of it ever.
