Kevin McCarthy wanted a BIPARTISAN committee, and he got a BIPARTISAN committee. I am happy to have both Cheney and Kinzinger on this committee. I don’t agree with their politics, but I believe they both take their oath to the constitution seriously.

I agree. And on the other hand everyone who was there at the capital that day is it both physically and emotionally tied to this and shouldn’t be running the investigation if you really want it to be neutral. I don’t know if that means getting federal judges or others to do the investigation. Or the FBI or CIA or some other group. But of course many people don’t trust them.
But the idea that you have your government and workplace attack, while you are there, and you get to do the investigation can arguably be considered a little bit biased. And people won’t want to hear that. I’m not saying they are going to do anything wrong, but normally you see people “taken off the case“ when they are involved in any way. From a logical point of view. But I have no real problem with the setup. Just a general point.
Like if a cop has his house invaded in burglarized, he’s not allowed to investigate the case.
That being said, I’m not sure how it works. If they will be investigating it or just directing others to investigate it. And having subpoena power.

A newly released study conducted by Emory University suggests recovered COVID-19 patients possess long-term immunity to the respiratory virus months after infection.
Published in Cell Reports Medicine, the comprehensive study analyzed 254 individuals with mostly mild to moderate symptoms of SARS-CoV-2 infection over an eight-month period and found that patients possessed “durable broad-based immune responses” to the virus after recovering from an infection.

McCarty and McConnell want to call foul but they removed themselves from the equation. McCarthy wanting to do his own investigation is such a joke. No power to call people and anyone who goes and talks to them but not the actual committee is guilty of something to do with the insurrection.
He didn’t remove himself from the equation, Pelosi removed him. McCarthy’s investigation is as partisan as Pelosi’s.

@Spencer spencer it was done shortly after the incident..it was bipartisan and there was a report which, was made public in june..it basically said that President Trump was not responsible and placed the blame on police and security..

For those who do not know, a lot of Kinzinger’s family members have excommunicated with him to side with Trump. Everything he & Cheney has done in regards to 1/6/21 has been exemplary & truly patriotic in light of every other RepubliCON.
But then they go and vote Republican. That just empowers the radicals that have taken over the Republican party if they still get the votes to get in to power and to stay in power. So I suggest that any rational Republican to withhold their vote for these extremists in their party all the way down the line on the ticket. At least for the next couple of election cycles until they can gain back control of their party. Otherwise they are just as complicit as the worst in that party.
