I personally assume that he meant the families that Harrison Li was referring to, because obviously these families didn’t get their loved ones back.

The world is not as cool, as people think it is, when travelers find themselves locked up overseas or even in nearby territory, it is good to advise people, that the dangers of incarceration in another country and difficult negotiation to release are very real and should be taken extremely seriously. Nothing to play with. Other laws in other lands are not always the same laws. People may not know that or might assume.
Unfortunate that the young man, his son has to carry the sorrow, the upset, the stress, and for him also. That said, if a crime was committed in America, the child would have their parent in jail and so it provides one realize incarceration does happen. That said, after 6, or so years maybe Biden will be able to negotiate a prisoner swap, or some reduced sentence so the man is able to reunite with his family, explaining the dad would be restricted fr future travel to China and would have to fund his own airfare out and or that he has a family with a young child who is very upset about not being with his dad, to see if it appeals to the heart of someone, in the government?? It would seem, there has to be a possible way, if there is, obviously there is.

While Iโm sure this family wants their loved one home, it disturbs me that Americans continue to travel to countries who r our adversaries and for whom to rake Americans hostage for money or other favors. Americans who travel to these countries, like Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, etc should do so at their own risk. If we pay ransom or give our adversaries favors they want, they will continue to take Americans for this very reason. The US should give nothing to get these ppl back. The more we act like we donโt care about getting these ppl back, the more the adversaries will release these ppl or not take these ppl in the first place.
