Contrary to many in the US, most of the world considers this man to be a hero. And he really is.
But also for the people in the US – most just dont want to acknowledge what he did for them when he exposed the privacy intrusion hydra the NSA was. And because of that, this hydra is probably going back to what it did before Snowden showed us…
People call him a hero because, they only know part of the story.
I remember hearing one the ladies on The View insisting that she wants her freedom taken away because she also bought into the 9/11 myth. Exactly what the Republicans want, for the masses to be so scared of terrifying brown people that they willingly give up their freedom and actually ask to be monitored by the government.

I dont think this is new. Your phone and smart tV do collect data on you. They sell your data to make money off you , we all know this.
That is why I am not big on buying the iPhone and any other new phone I’m keep my old phones

yes, you do vote BUT you also have gerrymandering and data firms like Cambridge analytica. You also have a zombie like cult that has claimed about 40% of the population. Plus I haven’t heard anyone of your politicians address any of these issues. I have heard of them trying to protect the election process but nobody that I know of has even mentioned about creating new laws that protect the average Joe. If I’m right then there isn’t even a plan yet. I haven’t paid much attention to the candidates but I am familiar with Sanders Warren’s and bidens platforms. i haven’t heard anything about any of the Republicans platforms but I wouldn’t recommend any of them this go around, EVEN if they had a great platform.
I really hope the US makes a much better decision this time.

Kathy Wedzik remember it’s a double edged sword. If it can be used for them it can be used for you as well. Like he states, if they wanted to, they can affect your whole livelihood in the US.

Nope. I’ll never own a cell phone. At first, the convenience looked nice . . . now the zombies! Everywhere! Can’t drive, walk, excrete, eat, or anything without either the Tooth turned on, or the rectangular cancer machines jammed into their face, thumbs flying. I’m too disgusted with people’s habits to ever want one. Yeah, I’m old. But I’ve worked in computers, beginning in the US Army since 1979. So I’m more than a bit “Tech-Savy” . . . I’m simply in charge of the tech I use. Not the other way around. If you don’t want to be tracked, get a new hobby. Put down the cell, go outside and play.

I’m not old and I choose not to use one. I lost mine last year and discovered Google tracks us through our smartphones wherever we go. That was quite a revelation. Then a colleague gave me an old one because she was frustrated she couldn’t get hold of me. It kind of alienates you from the herd. When I am with friends I generally find myself sitting and staring off into space while they tend to their smartphones, oblivious to the idea that they are with someone in person and not present at all.
I’d love to have friends who choose to be present and enjoy an intellectual conversation with someone right in front of them.

@Torben Andersen I realize you’re being facetious but even when I have a phone with me, it stays in my bag and I do not pull it out around friends unless there is a dire emergency. I think maybe you’re right though, I could just stand up and say I’m leaving, let me know when you’re available talk.
I’d worry more about Google having your full biography than the government launching an expensive cyber attack on your phone.

People also need to realize our freedom of privacy also died on 9/11, so I’m not surprised by this.

That is my right to privacy.
I draw your attention to the use of the word “particularly”. The person who would attempt to take something of mine must know what it is and where it is in order to get a search warrant to obtain it. This stipulation has been watered down of late but I stand by it.
Regarding digital content: in this discussion it falls under the category of “papers” they are all only digital copies of what could be hard copy documents whether in print, or photo, or auditory format.
