Yet the richest country in the world, who by the way prospered very well during the war, do not have a healthcare system for all their citizens. I can’t believe how people can lose their homes due to the astronomical cost of health insurance. Most capitalists societies are based on greed, but the USA is the greediest. There’s a quote and I paraphrase it “ you can always see how civilised a country is by the way they treat their poor, vulnerable and aged”.

@Mike R I say tax them 60% but no more than 80%. They can still live off very comfortably on $5,000,000 a year. The majority of the taxes can go to those who actually contribute to society in the form of Universal Income. Given to people such as, but not limited to, nurses, teachers, school staff of all areas, cafeteria staff of all areas, farmers, police officers, firefighters, construction workers, super market workers, and everyone else that makes the community function and run. Whatever is left is given to other people within the nation, because they deserve it too, why not. It isn’t resource-based economy level of awesomeness, but it is the first step to the right direction to keep the nation from complete collapse due to sheer stupidity.
The UK government is paying 80% of furloughed staff’s salaries. If we can afford it, so can you! Just need the will to help and support ordinary people! Stay safe 🌈

These large companies can get virtually no interest loans with their assets. They don’t need a penny from taxpayers.
CEO bonuses and stock divendends are also still being paid by a lot of these companies and there in lies a big part of the problem.
In Canada we call them corporate welfare bums, a phrase coined by Ed Broadbent.
Large companies should get their shareholders to step up to save their investment. Why should taxpayers bail out these companies? Taxpayers do not receive a windfall when the investors get a share of profits.
