Senate Democrats will vote on Wednesday on a bill that would make Roe v. Wade the law of the land and head off a Supreme Court decision that could leave states the sole authority on whether to restrict abortion.

The decision to move swiftly on legislation follows the leak of a draft opinion from the Supreme Court Tuesday that suggests the nation's highest court will overturn the landmark case that guaranteed the constitutional right to abortion.
The bill – introduced by Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., late Tuesday evening – does not have the 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster in the 50-50 Senate, but marks Democrats' first legislative attempt to enshrine the right to abortion into law since the leak.

Recently a religious organization was required to pay $87,000,000.00 for sexual misconduct dating back to 1950. Not enough monetary compensation. It should have been $500,000,000.00.

“Despite some politicians saying that they want to “codify Roe,” Congress isn’t looking to enshrine Roe in law. That’s because Roe v. Wade hasn’t been in place since 1992. The Supreme Court’s Planned Parenthood. v. Casey ruling affirmed it, but also modified it in significant ways.
In Casey, the court upheld Roe’s holding that a woman has the right to choose to terminate a pregnancy up to the point of fetal viability and that states could restrict abortion after that point, subject to exceptions to protect the life or health of the pregnant woman. But the Casey court concluded that Roe too severely limited state regulation prior to fetal viability and held that states could impose restrictions on abortion throughout pregnancy to protect potential life as well as to protect maternal health – including during the first trimester.”

This bill will be 6000 pages and include a bunch of things not related to the subject, it’ll pass over night and the next thing we know the rich will be richer once again and you won’t be able to make ends meet. It is absolutely baffling to me. That we have come to this day and age. Where the world wants to make abortion perfectly normal and fine across the land. People need to look at what Roe versus Wade started out as. It was for rape. Or serious risk for the mother or the child. It was never I mean never meant. @Eric Jordan agreed. I have heard so many women discussing how many abortions they had like it was a badge of honor. Some women in their 20s have had several and don’t see it as a sign to change their behavior. I have heard women describing how they drink too much and black out and don’t know who got them pregnant. This would force both women and men rethink their behavior.

okay, so if life starts at conception than does that mean a girl/woman can get child support immediately from the boy/man or if he can’t afford child support than his parents have to pay. And if the girl/woman has a miscarriage does she have to pay that money back. Does this mean that budget cuts to programs for prenatal heath care will be reinstated and increased. Does this mean that the federal and state governments are prepared to care for those children born into a system, already over loaded and under staffed, from parents who can not afford to raise a child. Does this mean that the federal government is going to increase the minimum wage to a livable wage so those families can adequately raise that child. Is the federal government prepared to bring back welfare programs for communities that are living in the poverty level and under educated perpetuating generations trapped in poverty. IF YOU SAY YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN AND ARE PROTECTING LIFE…LAST TIME I CHECKED A CHILD’S LIFE IS FROM 0-18 YEARS OF AGE…ARE YOU PREPARED TO HELP RAISE THOSE CHILDREN!
