I always hear about the moldy walls, and how we can scrub it clean. But, I rarely hear about fixing the leaky roof. Here is the leaky roof:
We are a flawed democracy because of 1) The electoral college, 2) first past the post voting, 3) our over-powered Senate, that undermines the voice of the people from the House of Representatives.
And, I think she must know…nothing will get done, with a Republican Senate. So, I’m not sure why democrat candidates are not talking more about how to win the Senate.
Senate 2020 / 53 (R), 47 (D)
Likely flips: AL will go (R), CO and ME will go (D)
Democrats need 2+WH, or 3 for majority, and not lose any other seats.
Best options for Dems: AZ, NC, and IA.
@GM Newbold remove the electoral college and all those states wouldn’t matter. Only California, Texas, and New York have a saying while the others dont because they are a person short.

@MIDAS64ful While I would love a women president, there is a massive MASSIVE flaw in your logic here. This is a nasty case of identity politics / sexism in disguise. Bernie is the originator of many of these policies, has a TREMENDOUS record voting on these things over the past 4 decades, hasn’t flip-flopped on any issues like Liz has, did not vote for Trumps bloated military budget, etc etc. While I like Liz, I think she’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing, and that she’s riding Bernie’s coattails while giving half-measures and light-versions of his policy proposals. We need a revolution to get these policies in there, and the movement on the progressive left is behind Bernie. If your only argument is that he’s an old white man, then I think you need to take a look at your judgment / morals.

People in the US pay to go to the doctors? I can’t even begin to imagine what pressure that must put on people.
It’s over 200k just to become a nurse practioner in this country. We are all paying.
You have no idea. Not only do we pay to go to the doctor, but many families must pay $6k or more per year before their insurance will pay a dime. Per year. Also, stupid US citizens who fear the government making decisions about what healthcare they can receive, have no problem with a for-profit corporation making that decision. So many are so foolish in this country.

We pay several hundred dollars per month in health insurance premiums. Then we still pay hundreds to thousands in co payments, deductibles and coinsurance. About 25 years ago these costs were pretty low, and it was designed to help the insured share in the cost of their care. But now it seems the costs are intended to discourage receiving care. Major surgery can cost you tens of thousands of dollars, in addition to your health insurance premiums. One big problem is that most Americans get their coverage from their employer. The employer usually pays at least part of the premium and collects the rest in payroll deduction. People with health problems can drive up insurance costs, raising costs for the employer. This gives the employer an incentive to fire or not hire otherwise capable people. If we had some type of a national health insurance program, the employers would not be concerned about the cost to cover their employees, healthcare and the workplace would be more fair for people with health risks such as diabetes or heart disease.
Awesome interview with Elizabeth Warren! Sure makes sense to me what she’s saying about healthcare. I’m sick of being sick because I can’t afford care and of seeing so many others – including so many young people sick. MSNBC – get out of the way! We’re tired of your pessimistic attitude and loud sneering at anyone who poses a risk to your drug company advertisers’ bottom line.
So true on every point. I’d just like to add that they also have been very pro Bloomberg, pushing him like crazy. I wonder if that $37 million in advertising is why.
Among the rights of Americans, healthcare is the most needed right at. My age 40 son was laid off in a merger and cannot afford to see a doctor for a couple of real needs. Sure, mom and dad are helping, but we’re not rich.
@JRG2733 I’m medically disabled, with an amazing special needs 20 month old son. Our future, but especially *HIS* future depends on receiving adequate medical care. We have medicaid, and we *STILL* are forced to deal with insurance companies who “run” it for the state; which means we both get turned down for important things every day. The only answer is to kick these for-profit companies out of life and death decisions!
@Alexis B Bless you. In this matter, I have no ideological bias but have been through many family situational crises and know medical care is a basic right that will improve life for everyone. How could anyone deny that?

Collin Ferguson there are 10 provinces in Canada, not 50, and far fewer people. It’s not fair for people born in Kentucky to not have the insurance we have in New York. We must do this on the federal level or millions of people will wait until their deaths just because of where their parents live and gave birth to them.

Also like to point out my sister lives in Maine and is a single Mom no help worked herself out of low income works with kids who have extreme special needs and got cut for her insurance because she “makes too much”…last January she was in a car accident we’re her car rolled and she walked home in a snowstorm because she couldn’t afford to have medical bills…..I HEAR YOU LOUD AND CLEAR AND WE NEED CHANGE SO THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN🙏🏼

Message to anybody who opposes Medicare For All as somehow “socialist”:
Just wait until you lose your great job and health coverage; and you, or your spouse, or your children are injured or get sick, and you can’t afford a doctor or hospital, or you go through the humiliation of asking for charity, or you have to file for bankruptcy.
Elizabeth Warren is the Real Deal. She knows what changes the middle class need and how to achieve them.
Warren has so many good policies!
