Self-Own? Trump’s Talk Of A Self-Pardon Stokes Tough Questions | The Beat With Ari Melber | MSNBC
Imagine all the criminality that will be exposed in Jan.
@becky doesit – You’re not able to notice when the lawyers go into the court room, where they actually get into trouble for lying, they always say it’s not a fraud case? Even Barr said so far there is no evidence of this fraud. Trump’s attorneys are gaslighting the country. They’re lying. Trump’s supporters have given over $150 mil that will go into Trump’s pockets, and will not go to these lawsuits.
But go on. Dream. Biden won. Trump is a loser.
@Sue Zbell To be clear it is not the Presidents place to tell the Justice Dept. what to do. Biden clearly stated the he will not interfere with their workings and that is how it should be. And he also stated that it will be up to the AG to make any decisions on charges of any individual and that is also how it should be.
And nothing will be done about it..that’s why they keep getting away with it. Supreme Court isn’t even trustworthy.
@Sue Zbell Biden said he doesn’t want to be part of it. He’s leaving it to the states and the DOJ to want to pursue it. If he pardons Trump, I would make him outline everything he’s done. Therefore, when the state goes for him it will prove their case against him. If I were Biden, that’s what I would do.
@psycobleach46 tullis Yep. Thrown out by mostly republican officials.
Billy Barr: ParDON me?
Diaper Don: “Not now!” *Cries*
Pardoning is for criminals, Trump said it himself.
Love it!
He can’t pardon himself or ask Pence to pardon him, for legal charges that have not been brought against him yet. District attorney’s are smart and will make shrewd legal moves when the time is right. Acting early might prompt the self proclaimed “very stable genius” to also act quickly to pardon himself against such allegations. Since specific charges aren’t being brought forward, there’s nothing he or Pence can pardon him for at this time. If appropriate, would be great to hear charges brought against him roughly 1 week after he leaves office and after Biden is able to do a government wide clearing of politically appointed supporters of the one who says he’s “like a smart person.” who might still remain in government positions of power, to the extent possible. AFTER government offices have been cleaned, so to speak, bring charges forward.
@starlight gazer B He also confuses which hole to use when speaking.

“I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose ANY SLEEP”
Why would an innocent man pardoned himself? If he’s innocent. 🤔
@April Harris STFU https://www.google.com/amp/s/slate.com/news-and-politics/2008/07/can-president-bush-pardon-people-who-haven-t-even-been-charged-with-a-crime.amp
@James Bond I never said you had to be officially charged. I repeat….to accept a pardon ….the pardon carries an imputation of guilt and acceptance carries a confession. You do not have to accept a pardon.
@April Harris “…pardons are usually for guilty people, but not always. Legally, a President could flip the script and use a pardon to declare his innocence. Nobody would be required to believe him, but as a formal, legal matter the pardon would not require him to admit he had done anything wrong. (Counter-intuitively, but well-established in the law, it also would not require him to have been convicted of anything yet, or even charged.) The line about imputing and confessing guilt was an aside — what lawyers call dicta. The case nowhere held that all pardons (or even Burdick’s) were premised on the recipient being guilty. Rather, the Court just recognized as a practical matter that most pardons carry an imputation of guilt, which is a reason recipients might not want to accept them. But this meant nothing for another type of pardon — much rarer but nonetheless a pardon — designed to clear people rather than forgive them.”

“Supreme Court has ruled that certain constitutional interpretations are the province of “political” branches, not the judicial branch. By this reasoning, only the president can interpret the scope of the presidential pardon.”

@April Harris and I repeat, “STFU”
@DrRQuincy Fabricate? That only works when the accused Is black or brown. You know nothing but good luck in everything. As for Trump give him your Money for His defence on fabricated charges or real ones.
Isn’t offering yourself and your friends pardons an acknowledgment that you and your friends have without doubt broken the law?

Hmmmm?
@Ryan Simons one legal precedent is that no-one can sit in judgement of themselves.
That precedent rules out any self pardon.
@Manuel G. Velilla facts
@alimaxion facts
If he has to give pardons to Rudolph and his kids and himself, that is PROOF that they are ALL GUILTY of SERIIOUS CRIMES!!

Breaking News; tRump taking bribe money for pardons.
See Ari that’s the big difference Nixon thought a self pardon wouldn’t work and Trump doesn’t think
The other difference between these two is one of them is dumb and stupid. We both know who that applies to.
By admitting he needs pardon trump is confessing his guilt.
@Chris we all know that you rode the short bus to school too.
@Chris 😂😂😂😂😂
Wouldn’t that be the best outcome for the Americans?
Trump admitting that practically every accusation is true in exchange for a blanket pardon would put a damper on his followers fantasies about the “deep state being out to get Trump”.
Especially if the confessions were streamed and archived on a public server.
Throw in a clause that the pardon would be invalid if he ever spoke publicly or gave an interview or tweeted ever again, and the US would be spared millions of dollars in legal fees and security.
Bonus: Most likely Trump would break the agreement and go straight to jail as per admission of guilt 😉
Mueller did say Trump still can be charged with corruption an obstruction of justice after he leaves office!
Biden is the one asking for the pardon
Let him pardon himself, it is an admittance of guilt as well as lose his ability to use the 5th amendment to avoid self incrimination.
Yep! Because he still wouldn’t escape state charges which the charges would prove the state’s case.

Worst series ever. But we can’t stop watching
The DOJ is investigating the White House for ” Pay for Pardon” and its been going on since August🤣🤣
But it was all a “witch hunt.” No pardons should be necessary, right? 😂
Lol you would think but……….I think we know why this question is even being considered
This is the most disgusting thing he can do is to self pardon himself. He’s a crook and he is so desperate to self pardon himself.
The US should ask for pardon for having given that seat for 4 years to this clown.
“Tough questions?” There are no questions, The idea of a self-pardon is laughable and absurd.
So are the 3 trump/McConnell Justices laughable and absurd.
Pardon yourself and pardon your family!
It’s an open admission that they are all criminals.
And their names will be garbage for the whole Future. No more high society haha
@Don Juan Always be welcome at Alan Dershowitz’s and Rudy’s places.
No judge should allow this to happen that means the president Above the Law he could commit a crime and get away with it it’s not fear to citizens of America therefore he should pardon everyone that is convicted Trump is not God

Barr is trying, to no avail, to provide cover for himself but it’s too late. We know who and what he is. 👎🏼
Rudy would only need a pardon if he’s guilty of something.
