It makes me CRAZY when people talk about wearing masks in terms of “the government is taking away my rights – telling me what to do”! I don’t hear that about seat belts, but protecting health by wearing a mask has become a political statement…..arrggh!

Well when CNN reports one thing and fox reports another you can understand the confusion. I try to check many different sources. If you are just believing everything CNN tells you than you probably helped those people out by blocking them for your version of the truth. Don’t believe fox or CNN and ask questions .

It is not a failure of leadership. As always with an undemocratic government like the United States current version of government, you have to follow the money. Just look at who profits from this. the right-wingers did not start calling to reopen the government until the day after the research came out showing that primarily black people and poor people died. Black people and “takers” to quote Mitt Romney. People the wealthy right-wing oligarchs do not care about at all. With computer manipulation of the vote in the US and with voter suppression, the right-wing no longer really needs that many poor white people’s votes.

I remember playing chess online a few years back, with many great people from the USA. In so many cases , it would come up in chat, that they didn’t know how to endure, their high medical bills, several said they were worth more dead, than alive. All governments are not working for the people, it’s about money, power, lobbyists and how to get the most votes, so the corrupt saga can continue. The corona virus , has opened peoples eye’s, soon even the government and the wealthy won’t be able to ignore it. The virus is the true winner, it doesn’t care about politics. Everyone, wear your mask, stay home when you can. Wash your hands often . Physical distance by 10 ft , and maybe end up at 6ft ( And Pray.)

@Chef John at my job we were told not to wear masks at the time, I’m an essential worker. We were told this and told to tell our employees not to wear them, as the task force suggested that we shouldnt buy masks (especially N95) as health care workers needed them as there was a shortage of PPE. Likewise they suggested that masks were of no use to us, unless they are N95 masks. So no one was wearing them and jobs were telling their workers, jobs that directly interact with the public on a consistent basis, not to wear masks. I was telling my employees to take their masks off, as I told by my superiors to do so, and I felt bad about it, as I knew we did not know enough about the virus to tell people that and also its their right to protect themselves if they are afraid. So I went on a LOA as it didnt feel right and I had immunity deficient people I was talking care of at home. Then I come back to work 45 days later when they started to make the suggestion that wearing masks will help us from spreading the virus if you do have it and are not showing noticeable or strong symptoms. They did not deliver the right message in the beginning, or they poorly expressed it and it no doubt lead to a greater spread.

@Smash To Bits Dude, I have had 8 surgeries and 17 hospitalizations in less than 2 yrs, and my doctors wear the masks until they get in my room and the door closes. After that, they let the mask hang on one ear and do their exams … They just cannot operate effectively all day long wearing jock straps on their faces. Perhaps you should do your research, or better yet, like I have to, find out FIRST HAND.
