Sailors Give Send Off To Navy Captain Who Raised Coronavirus Alarm | Hallie Jackson | MSNBC
Why would they relieve him? He is trying to protect his crew. So now we get punished for being a patriot and being honest. Messed up
Brother Sanguinary Agree
@wide Nation PROTECTING YOUR MEN IS ONE THING……ANNOUNCING TO THE WORLD INCLUDING YOUR ENEMIES THAT YOUR SHIP IS COMPROMISED BECAUSE OF THE VIRUS IS TOTALLY A DIFFERENT THING……ANY COMMANDER KNOWS YOU NEVER EVER LET YOUR ENEMY KNOW YOU ARE COMPRIMISED.
cbernight i understand that. But i don’t have to agree to it.
@wide Nation I DON’T UNDERSTAND…..IF YOU UNDERSTAND THAT THE COMMANDER PUT HIS PEOPLE INTO HARMS WAY BY TELLING THE ENEMY HIS SHIP WAS COMPROMISED……WHY WOULDN’T YOU AGREE WITH IT?
cbernight because i see both sides. And the circumstances are different.
*”The further a society drifts from the truth…the more it will hate those that speak it.”*
—–George Orwell
Skull candy right there, brother.
@Deplorable Centrist True IF he NEVER told the admirals about the situation he is guilty as sin BUT if he repeatedly told the higher ups and they ignored him then he is a hero-there is no middle ground on this issue
Orwell was right about the evils of socialism INGSOC and big brother eg China
TheSaintFrenzy, incorrect on all counts. There are only two sexes. There’s plenty of genders. Marriage is a union between two people who love each other. Men can definitely become women, and women can become men. That is a fact, whether you like it or not. A trans man can have a period. Abortion is the removal of a clump of cells. Get over it.
Nice
He knew he was gonna get canned. He sacrificed his career for his men.
He did exactly what a real man and leader would do. If it cost him his career then so be it, it is the military’s loss. Well done Captain. Every man and woman should write to the President to reinstate this officer who clearly saw his duty and did it. The military does not allow fools to command their most important vessels he knew full well that this was going to cost him personally. The fact that they sidelined him with that happy horses–t about keeping his rank and staying in the Navy is proof that he did nothing wrong but they wanted to stick it to him anyway. This is tantamount to him being quietly shown the door.
EMAN67 (Movies, politics, commentary) he just proved how much of a good captain he was tbh
Apparently he was a well liked Skipper. Good send off.
EMAN67 (Movies, politics, commentary) …….Yep, he knew it, but did it anyway!!! What a MAN!!!, I mean LEADER!!! Nope, I mean both!!! RESPECT ✊🏾 CAPTAIN!!!
yeah, some secrets are meant to be kept and safeguarded forever such as why people work and work to survive, paying bills and other payments while the people on top just collect and issues of the foundation swept under the rug only for the next offspring to get screwed w/ high vulnerabilities if the income is lost though if heaven were to be made after then no doubt work as even the people on top would have similar issues and responsibilities beyond the bottom that when a pandemic arises they are going to be more screwed than anybody at the bottom who can just pick up and leave with serious repercussion in comparison
I am a veteran, ’67-’69. This is a typical decision of the higher ups, and why this man went outside “channels”. I salute you Captain.
@Davey J Jesus : appears to be as Mute as our SO CALLED REPUBLICAN LEADERS , Dr’s Hoarding, Ignore Governors unless they Kiss Az, Don’t need that many Ventilators… Quiet as a Church mouse , Pelosi say to initiate the War Powers a FuggN CACOPHONY ! We’re Not gonna pray this Virus away. May help though , Good luck stay safe, KEEP HOPE ALIVE, Bake Cookies it soothes the Spirit, love your Family.
But a Navy official familiar with the situation but not authorized to speak publicly about it said that the captain had repeatedly asked his superiors for speedy action to evacuate the ship. His letter, the official said, came because the Navy was still minimizing the risk.
Yep. He knew what he was doing and he sacrificed himself and his position to prevent his soldiers from dying without being able to fight back.
@80’s Boombox Collector Traditions of mass murder you mean.
so true, whitout some figures of “officer” we win al the war’s, we pa with blood and they take a drink and make carreer sorr for m english i’am froggy soldier
He put the lives of his sailors over his career. Sounds like a good leader to me.
@peter parker So did the Chinese government in January. It was proven stupid later on.
@BeBop Aloola you’re a mook… It was inevitable it was going to hit, China lied about and the world health organization and that slowed the response..
@crinniezhai don’t know what you said… But China is not the only country that doesn’t like the US.
@peter parker Good 4 U , Pete …👏👏 WOW !
@BeBop Aloola Win in the end
I’m gonna win in the end
Win in the end
I’m gonna win in the end
Got to keep my cool
I am not the fool
Everyone expects to play me for
I could change the pattern
Steal a ring from Saturn
Forge myself into a man-of-war
Considering the risk to his crew, he did the right thing. Considering the risk to the administration’s reputation, it’s fair to say that ship’s already sailed.
@zertipied blur You seem to think that every ship’s captain should be at least as well informed as the Commander-in-Chief, who, when the USS Roosevelt was in Asia, said nothing about social distancing (and STILL doesn’t practice it) and thought a malaria drug could well be the answer. And he was being briefed by the ‘Task Force.’ Fat lot of good THAT did. Who’s more incompetent here?
@greg hill watch the video at 0:18 is that what you call social distancing, no different with the spring breakers? where’s the urgency? If one of those is positive of the virus then more could get it, with how they are gathering. Where is the discipline? There are now more than 100 positive cases of the virus in Guam, there’s is the possibility to over burden the health system of the small island, and more positive case from the aircraft carrier would not help. I am pretty sure from the time they left vietnam they have been informed about the dangers of the coronavirus. Vietnam was the first country to have the virus outside china, a lockdown of a village happened 3 weeks before the carrier arrived in vietnam. With regards to the american president, I think he did the right thing banning flights from china and europe, those decisive move probably saved millions of americans from getting the virus. He did that while his opponents was busy impeaching him and calling him racist and xenophobe for his ban on flights coming from infected countries. He is prioritizing his own people when he stopped the export of masks and ppes. He forced companies to manufacture ventilators, asap. He informed the people about possible medicines like hydroxychloroquine, the malaria drug, and it has been proven as one of the drugs to treat coronavirus patients. He deployed the two navy hospitals to blue states. It is your local officials who should step up, cuomo for years have disregard reports of the need for his state to add more ventilators in their inventory. No wonder the most affected are states and cities governed by his opponents and yet they still have the time to politicize the crisis.
@zertipied blur Oh, so the blame for all this goes not just to the captain, but his crew as well? The buck stops with Trump, and the possible problems you rightly describe are ultimately the responsibility of the C.in C. (who publicly denied responsibility). Hydroxychloroquine has NOT been “proven as one of the drugs to treat coronavirus patients”. His own task force had to “clarify” that, along with other remarks, like “America could be back at work by April 15th.” Cuomo didn’t “disregard reports of the need for his state to add more ventilators in their inventory” This administration has hardly replenished ANY thing since they took power. Check the Trump administration’s lack of engagement with the CDC. When declaring a national emergency, the buck stops with Trump, but he’s not up to the job. His last press briefing was a disaster. His “speech” made no sense at all. (I encourage you to listen to his words.) This is a President who thought it was a good idea to announce he wasn’t going to wear a mask, because he “had to meet world leaders, and it wouldn’t be appropriate”. If that isn’t a man who is detached from reality, I don’t know what is.
@greg hill you only hear what you want to hear. there’s no point of convincing you of the facts. you are spreading misinformation and parroting propaganda of the president’s opponents in the MSM and politics.
@zertipied blur Forgive me, ZB, but I often hear what I DON’T want to hear, and maybe you should do the same. I’ll let Trump do the work, if you listen to his last couple of press briefings, Thursday and Friday. Please listen to his words, and tell me this man is making any sense at all. These are the ramblings of a lazy, uninterested, self absorbed man. Your apparent confidence in him is astonishing.
This veteran salutes you captain! Job well done!
@Green Reaper Ok, then, surely you must understand that a crew of 5,000+ men cannot serve under a captain who they have seen waive under pressure.
If you want to discuss the moral or ethical side of his decision we could argue that endlessly and probably come to relative agreement.
But he could not remain captain of that ship.
And I fully applaud the Navy’s decision to remove him.
@advocate for productive speech I don’t believe he waivered under pressure. His actions brought attention to a potential cluster aboard a aircraft carrier.
His crew cheered him on his way off the ship so clearly they respect him enough.
But he did violate the chain of command, despite his intentions he should face a penalty.
Now the Secretary of the Navy, Mr. Modly, could use a refresher course in military bearing. His unprofessional rant and name calling, in addition to dressing down the sailors who support the captain, were unnecessary.
@Green Reaper I am glad I didn’t serve with you but it was 18 years earlier so I am sure that accounts for some of it!
The fact they acted as they did goes to show the lack of discipline aboard the ship which makes me realize that is the first issue the new captain will address!
@advocate for productive speech You’re glad you didn’t serve with me? Well this BM will gladly tell you to F off.
The crew’s discipline will be addressed by the new captain? Please, that wannabe tough military BS only works to stroke ones ego. What matters is what it takes to get the job done. Respect is a two way street military and otherwise.
@Jerry Guerra I was being sarcastic lol. Judging by your comments, I honestly don’t think you’re a progressive at all. But whatever you want to believe about yourself then that’s you buddy.
So he tried to go through chain of command, got turned down, did the right thing, then was relieved of his position. Got it.
The charges of dismissal sound like we dont want be bad guy he was the bad guy
What position?
chain of command, bulshit, the chain served just one thing,not take responsability, all thos officers are coward, they never see a bullet flying, West point school boys;
To all the people with sons and daughters, husbands and wives, he just tried to help them if that’s his crime it’s very sad for the USA
Its a happy day in America because of coronavirus, dude
@Leeanne Bishop English? Something to understand is that Trump actually has very limited power within the U.S. government. Alot of the fingers should be pointed at the congress and various other groups of entities that actually make change within the country. Sadly the president is all most Americans think of when they want to point a finger at the government.
@zertipied blur Your as SMART AS TRUMP !
david white he put them in harms way is what he did
@cristina Lee Pipe Down , Ya FUGLY TROLL ! 🐑💩
The Pentagon screwed this man.He was doing his job.The crew is his responsibility!!
no wonder they got sick these sailors never heard about social distancing, the captain should not have allowed the sailors to leave the carrier in Asia during the pandemic, in find him incompetent, and their are adding burden to the people of Guam.
How you know he is a man , he may be transgender
@King Kairo if you know anything about the military (which you obviously dont) this man was a captain of an aircraft carrier… in the Navy that’s the highest level below an admiral… you only become an admiral (genersl) by presidential appointment… he calls out the peesidents stupid response and he he gets dismissed.. as a navy veteran I stand by this captain
Agree the crew is his responsibility, so he is responsible for the spread of the virus on his crew and not violating classified information to our adverseries and not embarrassing his chain of command.
Cisc0Guru why you getting all mad?
As far as I’m concerned he should be the next Sec’y of the Navy.
What is your job?
I agree. And I think it should be required that Navy Secretaries be veterans of the Navy. This is a full bird Captian, with a good background, getting fired by two individuals with “0” years of military experience. This is down right disrespectful to the Navy. As was Trump’s treatment of Navy veteran, John McCain, before he died. The president openly acknowledged that he holds no respect for P.O.Ws because they were captured. Wow.
Rebeca Cabrera are you from Arizona?
@Rebecca Cabrera With all due respect the current (acting) Secretary of the Navy, Tom Modly, did serve in the Navy. However, you wouldn’t be able to tell that by his petty and very unprofessional attitude towards the letter and the Sailors who cheered Capt. Crozier as he left the ship.
Anti-American dumb mother fokkers!!!!!!!
Dismissing or transferring people like him is how you insure you get spineless, compliant leaders at the top.
@Jimmy Greene Shut up pansey
And those are the last people you want in command of a combat unit or ship.
@KingDT2007 Hey girl hey💃
That’s exactly where this country is headed in every sector of industry, commerce, military, education, politics, etc., if you haven’t noticed.
@The Blade nvm trumps immediate and decisive response when Assad gassed his Syrian brethren.
they’re throwing all their support behind him because they realize that he was making it about what it should have been about from the beginning: them.
you take care of your troops and they take care of you. Very few times have i seen rallying behind leadership like this, but when you see it you have to admire it.
@dsvet read my comment again. did i say they werent? jesus. foh
Dr. Moscato absolutely not u don’t let people know our weak spots that’s the wrong way to go about it . It’s a good thing he didn’t get that ship sunk by telling the work that half a ship was sick . The military does things in ranks and order for a reason anyone who is navy should understand this . They understand they are part of something bigger then just them .
@cristina Lee well, we are failing at the big picture. Yes, we must do our jobs within the military but, there are certain aspects that should be halted. We should halt recruiting and taking in new recruits at bases. All these does is spread the virus. The worst ones are the ones not showing symptoms but, our military higher ups disagree. I understand that might leave us short but, stop loss everyone would keep our numbers strong. We as a whole nation need to take this more serious. Our economy will fall behind some but, if this virus continues we will have many more sick and dead people. I feel we have more serious matters to worry about.
We need to hire companies to make more items to protect/care our regular citizens, first responders, doctors and nurses.
I only agree that he should of used the correct channels to advocate for his sailors.
Mr. California new recruits on bases umm i don’t think so in fact the air force cadets couldnt even have their families go to lackland to watch the graduation 👩🎓 day ! They are being very careful in fact camp penalton has a order in place that if u don’t live within 30 miles of the base they will not allow even a outside handy man on the base the military is taking the virus very very serious and I believe that we are safe and in trusted hands
Even if say new recruits were being allowed to do paper work and physicals on a base this would be bad why ? Don’t all the base workers go to off base stores n fast food due to the bx being sold out anyway . New recruits won’t go too boot camp till this is over it’s prob just paper work n meps stuff if it’s even true . We have some worrying to do but that’s def not one of them ( I would never type on a utube comment what or if I thot we had any weakness spots in our wonderful military why well because we never want the wrong people to think we are weak which we are not anyway and secondary we want people who are not so in tune with the military as us to feel safe n secure in the fact that the us military has United States best interest at all times .
I can only hope history remembers this man.
Commit genocide and Donald has your back. Tell the truth and you will be relieved of command.
@The Blade not quite how it works bud
@Simon Captain That isn’t a secret. Every nation affected by CV is at the same risk. This doesn’t provide a true tactical advantage.
I can only hope this is remembered this November
History is my favorite subject and history will also remember that the coronavirus was created by the US Navy
“R E S P E C T”
Too bad 45 and his greedy demonic followers and White House staff have no idea what human decency is. They will all discover that this crap they worship on earth has no value in God’s house. I am grateful for this captain and his allegiance to his crew and the country he serves. Let’s fix all of this in November on Election Day. See you at the poles.
@Betty Wigfall I think you mean “POLLS”?
As a former sailor I am proud he tried to act in a manner to save lives
@dsvet The U.S. doesn’t have enemies, it makes them when needed.
Darnell Smith you are a disgrace
@John Morgan Blinded by Obsequious MENTALITY you Poor thing, Dip🐑🤦♀️
@John Morgan Your stupidity is astounding, I pray to got you are never allowed to be crew on any ship. Your the type of person who couldn’t even be trusted on a 7 ft. caty.
dsvet it’s nearly impossible to do that with 4000 men on a carrier
Firing and prosecuting hero’s like this Captain, but money-hungry villains crooks and politicians go free. Smh….
Who are you calling corrupt politician?
@Michael Bras Decide for yourself, I’m not on here to convince anyone anything.
You are a corrupt politician
wow! he put his life on the line for his people! he is literally a real life JON SNOW!!
lol dude it doesn’t mean the sailors were not getting treated. They just didn’t want the info released to the public. When you join the service you are govt. property.
I’m sure every commander believes they would give up their life to protect their men, but how many would give up their career? Honor!
A true honorable soilder that put his own job on the line. Trump would never do that.
Donnie isn’t doing that. He lacks all virtues required to do so.
Stupid dumb people that don’t understand loose lips sink ships!!!!!!!!!
I disagree. He already has!
@Angry Bushnell you are so wrong!
